In my personal opinion the starter sub-classes (gunslinger, void walker, and striker) are all out matched in PVP by their later sub-classes and definitely by the newest ones.
What's your take?
-
Not really. Sunsinger, defender, and gunslinger are very useful for oryx in the raid. Voidwalker I would say is a maaaybe because if you tether majors with a Nightstalker... They die lol
-
Everyone has "shiny new toy" syndrome.
-
While the new subclasses have some novelty and many players are still upgrading them we'll see less of the originals. Eventually players will either settle on a preferred playstyle or gear synergy, or switch between subclasses situationally. Obviously I'm gonna run Stormcaller on my warlock for an arc ability kills bounty or an arc-burn strike, but I find Sunsinger a better fit with Tlaloc (extra grenade + grenadier, more likely to save super during tough missions), and I'm sure I'll find similar situations with the others. It'll be interesting to watch approaches evolve again.

Striker and blade dancer have been put to shit. Otherwise they're all fine in the right hands
-
With the new version of the Ahamkara's spine I can have two extended time trip mines along with my two throwing knifes and combustion and keyhole on golden gun. Still a beautiful combination if you ask me.
-
Defender titan says hello.
-
Nah i find them still pretty good. I just dont use em too often cause im lvling the new ones.
-
I agree. Fist of Havoc, and Nova Bomb. Those two only work to their fullest when the enemy team is bunched together, which occurs once in a blue moon. Super mechanics for those two need a revamp. I think that all supers should activate with a timer like Bladedancer, Sunbreaker, Stormcaller, etc. So Fist of Havoc users should have more than one fist to slam, and Nova Bomb users more Nova Bomb's (maybe smaller ones too). Gunslinger on the other hand needs a few more shots to put it on equal terms with Sunbreakers. And Sunsingers need to have their grenades 1 hit kill when in super. (Just hypothetical suggestions) Obviously there would be a lot of balancing to be done, but I think having all supers on a draining super bar timers would make them all fun to use.
-
I still like gunslinger in crucible but I play a longer range defensive style and love my tripmines. The new supers are challenging to counter. Sunbreaker wrecks and has a lot of room for error. I haven't tried stormcaller yet.
-
Bubble and Self-rez are still great, but otherwise, I agree.
-
Definitely disagree on the Titan. Bubble v Ground Pound and better grenades.
-
Void walker is still the best out of the warlocks. Gunslinger is the best out of the Hunters and Sol hammer is the best out of the titans
-
In my opinion, each subclass is roughly equal. They only feel OP because they're so fresh and new and exciting. Give it another couple months, and you'll see more variety again. Voidwalker can't be underpowered. It has the power of the Fists of Havoc, but ranged. It's a great crowd killer. I always loved it much more than Sunsinger.
-
Gun slinger still has golden gun and throwing knives!!!! Still awesome!
-
I still prefer gunslinger. I do like sun breaker better than striker. Voidwalker and storm caller are about even to me right now.
-
Well, I see Sunbreaker as a long range equal to GunSlinger. Would I prefer Defender or Nightstalker in a fireteam? Depends, really; one is more defensive (ha!) and the other more offensive, both create insane amounts of orbs. Personal preference, I suppose, like most things in Destiny. And SS is definitely still valuable on its own with revive. Still torn on Stormcaller.... Haven't played it but it feels like it's a bit underwhelming. I'd say within a Class, there is still plenty of usefulness, especially if you prefer to run as a Titan, for example. But in a fireteam of 3+? Then... It gets tricky :)
-
I still think GG and void are great for pvp.Sunbreaker however, that changes things for titans (always been lacking in pvp IMO)
-
I like Striker for Oryx. Shoulder charge is vital for bomb detonations.
-
Nova bomb is still better than storm caller, and when toO comes back, all locks are going to use radiance, just like they used to.
-
Defender for life
-
-
Golden Gun easily tops the bow and with the nerf to both blink and the Bladedancer super itself GG is easily the best Hunter subclass for crucible. As for Voidwalker I will always prefer it to Sunsinger for PvP. Voidwalker vs Stormcaller however is something I'm not sure about yet. Let me finish maxing Stormcaller and I'll get back to you. I won't argue with you about Striker. It is not worth using at all
-
I still use gunslinger... Not a top player at PvP but love that golden gun :)
-
Just wait a few weeks or months
-
gunslinger + nighthawk = great stagger on oryx, decent in PVP especially with aclyophage symbiote void walker with shatter and angry magic lays a blanket of death in PvP, not so useful in PvE except for mob clearing. striker is same as void walker
-
Nova bomb still my fav in crucible
