No HALO 3:ODST Co-Op Campaign ???

I am lead to believe that unlike the previous mention of ODST containing a 4 Player Co-Op Campaign it infact does not. I do not see anywere during the campaign when you'll be able to use a total of 4 ODST's as a group considering you start of as 'Rookie' and you have to discover your squadmates, and re-live what they have went thorught, as an almost kind of flashback so this does not allow for the use of additional ODST's. In addition to this in all of the trailers I have seen of the campaign so far... I see no Co-Op option, and additionaly do not see anywere during the campaign were it will be suitable to have a group of ODST's simultaneously! Someone please prove me wrong, as I hope and want the campaign to be 4 player Co-Op! - Showa

  • They showed the Rookie using the VISR with other ODSTs with him who appeared green. And this was at night, so it has to be ODST co-op campaign. Unless there is a nighttime Firefight map, but they've said there will be coop so I don't think they'd lie.

  • Actually, yes, there is 4 player Co-op campaign.

  • If there is to be a 4 player co-op campaign, the most likely thing is that the other 3 players will play as random ODST troopers, they wont be shown in cut scenes like 3rd and 4th players in Halo 3

  • I have found probably the most solid evidence available yet relating to a possible Co-Op campaign! View this picture here: http://www.bungie.net/projects/odst/asset_popup_viewer.aspx?at=59&cc=29&item=17 Observations show that the top of the HUD shows the compass - and at a closer inspection it shows an objective marker... I'm pretty sure that you wouldn't have an objective marker during a Firefight mode Also, all of the ODST's in the picture appear to look the same, which is different to Firefight which allows the user to choose any of the specialised amor permutations. This also appears different to this : http://www.bungie.net/projects/odst/asset_popup_viewer.aspx?at=59&cc=29&item=7 Which we can assume is Firefight mode, as people have individual scores, and each ODST appears yet again to be wearing specialised armor different from the said Co-Op Campaign mode. The second picture is obvisouly a diferent mode to the first as they both appear to have different HUD's and both contain human players rather than AI which can be suggested due to the players boasting Service Tags! I'll update this post when I gather anymore information! [Edited on 06.02.2009 9:32 AM PDT]

  • Yeah, what Vashkey said is true to a certain extent, but I have read multiple reviews and even looked all around Bungie.Net trying to find some eveidence of a Co-Op campaign, but all i get is several references back to the 4 Player Co-Op Firefight mode.

  •
Posted by: xZcNx MarcWagz i really dont care... in halo 3 it made sense to have the arbiter for 2 player co op, and those other elites are acceptable for 4, but in odst you are supposed to be alone.
If you've ever played Halo 3 in single player you'd know that there are missions where the Arbiter isn't supposed to be there. And with the other Elites they are given no introduction or acknowledgment in cut scenes. So you can't really say it make any more sense in Halo 3 than it does in ODST. But who cares really? I'd take playing with my friends any day over the lack of some slightly plot bending ODSTs.

at the end of the odst e3 showing , they do say they will be showing how coop works later 2moro, ie today now. so just wait until later. either coop is just for firefight or there is another gamemode for coop. but yeh i agree i dont see how u can have coop for the parts we seen so far.

  • I read somewhere that it will be a 2 player co-op for missions, and 4 player co-op for firefight. I cant be certain though. Also, even if you are supposed to be alone, do you remember Halo CE? In that on co-op, you just played as another spartan, so...yeah.

  • Bungie has stated on numerous occasions that ODST has the same feature set as Halo 3. To include 4 player co-op, forge, theater, and all the stuff we know and love.

  • Well, when we say Dutch we saw that he was with some other ODSTs not in his squad, I imagine you'd play as one of them. Same goes for Rookie scenes and other flashbacks.

  • Looking at the screenshots, there's ones that are obviously of the firefight mode, and then more that aren't that still have brutes and other AI enemy. So I'd say yes. Whether or not it's 4 player on one xbox, who knows. Probably not. -TGP-

  • Bungie has been saying since the beginning it would support 4-play co-op for campaign. As for Rookie being alone, it'll likely be like Halo 3 where your supported by nameless characters that aren't actually a part of the story. And I remember seeing in the trailer multiple ODSTs fighting together in one part.

  • I never saw 4-player co-op campaign in Halo 3 trailers. Yet they still had it because we were told it was so. Bungie has said that ODST has 4-player campaign. It just looks nicer in a trailer to only show 1 person.
