All these people instantly thinking New Monarchy will be a tyranny
If you read a lot of the flavor text, you'll see one of the core beliefs is that you get to power with the support of the people, and if you abuse that power, the people can and will rise against you. There's an interesting dynamic with these people of extraordinary power roaming about, these "Guardians." They can easily overthow a single Monarch if he were to anger a group.
This is also not a coup d'etat. [u]By vote of the Consensus[/u] to abolish the consesus...

To, by vote of the Consensus, abolish the Consensus, and transfer [b]ultimate power[/b], in order that the rights and liberties of all citizens be secured, to a [b]single sovereign of unimpeachable character.[/b] An unimpeachable character who has ultimate power is not bound to the wishes of his people, he has complete power and can do what he wishes. New Monarchy aims to put a single person in control with the powers of a dictator.
