Official Feedback on The Taken King - The Gameplay

The one about gameplay. So what are your first impressions of the gameplay in the missions, Strikes, on patrol, and any other PVE experience you have done? What do you think of the enemies, are their new attacks and abilities interesting? What about your new abilities, how are you liking the new Subclasses? Are you enjoying the new mechanics in missions and strikes?     The "must be in a Fire Team" requirements for bounties and quest lines is in no way needed. I now need to LFG to complete Petra's quest? What the actual F@ck dude? This seriously needs to be reevaluated. Strikes were fun and refreshing. Game play was tight. Storm Caller is sick to use in a group of taken! Really though... That fire team requirement for bounties? Just horrible... I hate using posting personal ads so I can play a video game.

  • You lock out players who already have $100 invested in the the game. You put so little story unto the game that the first LvL 40 came only a few hours after release. Definitely not worth wasting money on.

    • To be completely honest i thoroughly enjoyed the story. It gave the charicters much more depth. I do feel it was pretty short though (just the main story line) there is plenty to do afterwards to keep you busy. The subclasses in my opinion can only be described in one word. EPIC. i have never had more fun activating my super than i have had today. Now the only serious downfall i have found is the weaponry. Thus far it has been very underwhelming. I remember somewhere someone posted deej (i may be wrong about this so forgive me if i am) stating that playing with the same gun for 10 years would be boring, however based off the weapons i have picked up so far i would have much rather had my fatebringer to enjoy the new content with than basically anything i picked up today. I also realize that this is new and so far have only found a few legendaries but i think they look and sound cheap, like toys not like alien killing machines of the future. I am holding on to see if anything really special drops or if im stuck with these water pistol looking weapons. Other than that gripe however i would say job well done. TLDR story - short but awesome Subclasses - EPIC!! Weapons- meh :/

      • The work done on currencies and itemization seems really good so far. The new level design seems overall pretty good also. The taken being reskins of old enemies with a few new effects (attacks) is probably the biggest bummer. Doesn't help that they're all colorless and bland. The Dreadnought is very large but feels a bit empty. Not running into enough enemies imo.

        • Too few difficulty options available at launch. In vanilla Destiny I found enemies two levels above me to be perfect. I would like to experience that level of difficulty in every mission Destiny ever releases after this point. I want to have engaging and stimulating encounters that are intense, there is no tension if all enemies are cannon fodder. I don't ever want to have to face absurdly squishy enemies again, it's not fun for me. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to face enemies at an appropriate difficulty level for my skill level and personal preferences. This is a basic expectation I have of action games, and historically Bungie did this better than anyone. For Browny points let me add the modifiers you guys reserve for dailies and weeklies ala carte when I choose to play a mission from the map, at launch. I should say I don't expect any extrinsic rewards for the harder difficulty or modifiers, the reward is intrinsic for me. I don't even want to bother facing level 25 enemies, so i'm actively avoiding playing the game until difficulty options are added, because I don't want to ruin the experience. I suspect half of the reason people are complaining the story missions are really short is that literally every veteran player is overleveled but not sufficiently geared to choose the higher available difficulty. Thanks to the community team for listening, dissecting and communicating feedback to the rest of the Bungie team, and thank you Cozmo in particular.

          Great improvements over previous DLC. The story, Ghost, and the pve elements in general. You guys are going in the right direction. Keep improving on the current game. Big pat on the back and two thumbs up from all of us at MOG Nation!

              Why are some year 1 exotics not available in year 2 to get for 150 legendary marks? That to me who grinded and grinded for certain exotics is a huge kick in the face. Would j refer this game to other gamers based off your behavior since launch? No. I would actually tell them to stay away from any game made by bungie.

            • PVE feedback: TDB & HOW bounties and activities should not have been removed. I say that because that's all those 2 DLCs had to offer.

            • Shotguns horrible for pve. Whole story replaying same locations only backwards. And using pvp maps for furthuring story. Glad the characters finally got some characteristics. Not just here's ur quest. All the drama caused by bungievision before launch unneeded since all you had to do was make better weapons/ armour. Moving on. Short story for 40bucks. Hopefully dreadnought lives up to hipe. New sub classes fun and needed change in a stale game.

              Shotguns are shit again in PvE. Titans should get the Taken Ward of Dawn instead of the dogshit one we have. They can shoot through it, and it blinds aswel. Probably stands up to Guardian supers too, unlike our Ward of Fail.

            • You guys have nailed it. Only played the first mission so far and unlocked each new subclass but gunplay feels better, audio feedback from weapons is 10/10, loot drops are spot on. theatre and atmosphere in missions coupled with dialogue from ghost and the vanguard adds the depth to the story missions that was much needed. Cutscenes are on another level. New subclasses absurdly good, quests to unlock them even better. Grimoire cards read better. Daily bounties work well together and reward having fun in patrol instead of loading up saved checkpoints. Every change seems well thought out, planned and executed. I think the edge article summed it up pretty well: "we are perhaps 20 minutes into the taken king and we are already more invested in destiny's story than we were in over 400 hours of gameplay". Keep it up!

            • Shotguns need to be rebuffed(PVE) We need a way to carry over [u]a few[/u] year 1 legendaries as they cannot be infused(so maybe give 5 "infusers" to put on our Y1 legendaries" Have non-taken prioritize taken enemies over guardians. Aside from that I enjoyed my experience.

            • I think it is a rip off. And I don't believe for a second bungie gives a damn about feedback other than using it as method to allow players to vent. Again I say shame on bungie and shame on bungie staff, there are plenty of good games companies in the seattle area to work for, hell you guys could walk out the door and find a new employer before you got tired walking.
