Official Feedback on The Taken King - The Gameplay

The one about gameplay. So what are your first impressions of the gameplay in the missions, Strikes, on patrol, and any other PVE experience you have done? What do you think of the enemies, are their new attacks and abilities interesting? What about your new abilities, how are you liking the new Subclasses? Are you enjoying the new mechanics in missions and strikes?   • Loved the story, wasn't the best story in a game by a mile, but thus far, it's a giant leap in the right direction. The best thing other than the story for me so far, is that for the first time in destiny, I can open the director and actually have multiple meaningful unknown things to do. The open ended quest line after the main story is an absolutely great move on Bungies part. The bad, I personally was very disappointed that mayhem clash disappeared already. Why is this not a basic playlist? I do not really sympathize with the folks raging because they didn't buy ttk, I paid money to have new content, and I appreciate the new direction, that being with TDB and HOW, I paid for new maps but could only play them on specific lists I didn't enjoy. Now they are in the main playlists, however I feel there should be a little more of the old ones mixed in.

  • Haven't been able to get my hands on it yet because of technical issues but everyone in else in Mog nation says its amazing and a huge improvement so gets my thumbs up

    • I really enjoy the new dlc. However the stormcaller sub class need to be a 1 hit kill on crucible like every other super in the game. Maybe some more range And possibly some minor damage resistance. The titan subclass needs to have damage resistance removed like gunslinger

        • Im still waiting for NPC's like Zavala or Cayde to join us on a couple missions. Why does everyone have to use the radio? And that Praedyth mission: [spoiler]...was disappointing. I knew that i wasnt going to meet him, or fight beside him because Bungie hates NPC's for some reason, but it would have been a mind-blowing surprise! Instead hes just a pile of bones...[/spoiler]

          • A majority of the content is great. Been playing near non-stop since release and I'm still losing track of how many quests I've got. The new grind system is also very clever, it's still very much a grind but there is so much to do that you barely notice. Infusion helps because you're not just chucking old weapons and grabbing new ones, you're deciding what to keep and what to throw away. Criticisms: Legendary marks need to be more attainable. Been through the story on just my hunter and 90% of my gear is above level 280, I've bought a ghost from the vanguard and that's all I've been able to afford, despite having better gear earned through rng. Essentially it's made the vendor items pretty redundant and definitely not worth the amount of marks they cost. Weapons definitely need to drop more marks when dismantled. Not many, maybe 9 or something but 3 is barely worth the effort of getting it tbh. Heroic activities also need to drop more, we used to be able to get more than 100 vanguard marks every reset after three heroic strikes and dailies. Now we only get only get around 65, which isn't even enough to buy a single piece of armour.

            • Hrs and hrs of strikes at lvl 41 gets 4 legendary drops not complaining did nf got 12 strange coins just wondering why I'm getting absolutely next to no drops at all is my drop rate stuffed ??

            • If the game says a friend is in an area such as the tower and patrol and I select it? Please put me in the same tower/patrol area if there is space, simple and clean.

            • Possitibe accross the board. Enemies are differenyt quests are difficult and leveling seems to be harder so i'm feeing it.

              • I love the new gameplay. People can keep complaining about price and past content but life goes on. Longevity of games is based on progression and attracting new players. The old confusing upgrade paths, sponge bosses, less rewarding rng system, monotonous strikes and missions had to go. The system was wayyyy to complex for just anyone to get into. If they had kept that system and released TTK we wouldn't have new players joining the community the game would seem like it had way too much content and would be extremely confusing and time consuming. Over time the veterans would get bored and dwindle out and the game would fail ultimately as a whole. This way Bungie keeps it simple, exciting, and fresh for new and old players alike. Price wise it was meant for new players. You can't grow a game without cutting deals. I do feel as if us vets could've been compensated a little more but I'm so satisfied with the new gameplay that I can overlook it. There's new grinds and new everything to enjoy and rewarded for. The glass is half full.

                  After playing ttk for a few days? Edit: I moved the original comment because I do not feel like it belongs in this post. does it look cool? Is it exciting to play and learn and level up? New subclasses are awesome? Is the idea hinted at in the story still enthralling? Absolutely. I just wanted to clarify for any additional readers of this comment of exactly where my discontent lies. And I think most (at least on the forums) can say they feel that they've been taken advantage of. It can get a little heated. I see little wrong with the current product offered by bungie. I've enjoyed a lot of time already and the new ideas look great.

                  • Main sound keeps dropping out whilst in the tower i.e. Footsteps, weapon and armour level ups etc. Ambient sound like birds and spaceships are sometimes the only thing I hear when roaming around the tower.

                    I did not receive the jolly holiday quest after completing the story on all of my characters, is this a glitch or do I have to do another quest to obtain it ? Thank you for your consideration p.s. I enjoy the expansion very much

                  • There was more story and explanations in the first cut scene of TTK than all of Destiny year one. This is beginning to look like the game we first saw back in the 2013 vidocs. HUGE improvement Bungie! I have spread my fair share of "hate" towards year one on the forums but I'm pretty satisfied with TTK. I'm still a little confused about the new emotes and emblems being sold separately. New Year, new game; you'd think it would just come with the game. I personally will not spend extra money on new emotes or shaders/emblems. Other than that, well done.

                  • I liked most of the gameplay. The enemies were interesting and diverse. Seems like they have our guardian powers... One has a bubble another a tracking grenade and I forgot what else I saw. It was nice to see so many new areas. That's what I wanted over recycled content. One patrol mission "earth strike" or something like that was so hard I could t do it alone. No guardians ever spawned Into the area to help which was sad. Waisted about an hour between trying to get the leader to spawn and then not take him down because my weapons weren't powerful enough. Not bad that I couldn't do it alone, it was bad that there was no back up for a public event... 4-5 times in different parts of the map. There were some really fun missions like the one in VOG.

                      • I think marks need to be easier to get, but overall i have seen a lot of improvements, i like the new mechanics of taken enemies even if they are simple reskins. I would hope that you guys add more difficulty levels for strike because as it is i feel robbed there

                      • The issue I feel that needs addressed is legendary marks. The need to be a reward in ALL strike playlists. They are used in many phases of the 2.0.0 content. Why make them so difficult to get? Endless grinding this close to alot of new game titles coming out will only drive a very large number of the population away.

                        • I have put a large portion of my time into this game. I put up with your poor excuses for expansions, and even poorer updates. The Taken King was the last straw. I mean, I paid more for this expansion than the vanilla game and that contained more story missions, progression, more locations, aliens, character options, pvp maps and subclasses, it also had potential. Without Destiny tacked into it, how much does TTK really have? Currently I'm trying to get a refund off Microsoft.

                          The gameplay is the same it has always been, game is solid, but was the gameplay ever really the problem? The actual TTK experience. I am enjoying the story mode. Have not yet had a chance to play multiplayer. Don't click spoiler if you haven't played the story. [spoiler]Killing off the queen right off the bat.Are you guys going for the Game of Thrones red wedding feel here? I wish I would have got to see more of the queen before she died. She seemed like a really interesting character. That was a little bit sad. [/spoiler] I think you guys are going in the right direction, but I think I wasted $80 bucks on Collectos box, the box itself didn't seem to have the right amount of value. The little cards inside. I could have drawn better pictures and printed them out. The strange coin replica? Didn't feel like anything special. I liked the treasure book. I wish it had more in it. Maybe if it was an actual book, and not a fake book. I basically just used a little piece of paper with download code inside to get all the stuff. So does this mean I have two copies of the game now - Physical copy of the game can be given to my friend? Maybe i am not a collector, but I was expecting more. About the digital collectors items. The titan mark is awesome with the hammer. The collector's shaders are decent. That was the only things I liked out of all the Collector items. The hunter cloak is ugly and short. The Wizard arm band doesn't create enough lightnings and looks don't stand out. The new emotes are pretty average. I did not really like them. After 5 minutes I was already bored of them. Overall I think that in the future I will not buy Collector's Edition. Cayde 6 was cool. I would like to learn more about how he became a robot. He is funny and listening to him talk to Eris is funny. Eris is such an emo character, always crying, but it seems like thats what she is suppose to be doing. So having them talk to each other was a blast. The Sunbreaker Super is awesome. Yep, finally you guys did something right. Titan is actually worth playing now. I have to play more to give a more detailed review. So far from first 3 hours, my impressions are positive. I would give taken king an 8/10 from what I have seen so far.

                        • You said you could earn as many marks as you wanted in a week but severely limited the ways to do so.... I understand that you don't want people (light) lvling too fast but I find it is crazy slow
