Official Feedback on The Taken King - The Crucible

The one about the Crucible. You have already gotten a taste of the new PVP maps and gametypes the past week. I wanted to continue to monitor your feedback with what you like and don't like about Rift, Mayhem, and the new maps. Now you will start to see new Subclasses out in the wild, how are they fitting into the PVP meta? Give me your thoughts on all things PVP, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

  • [b]Subclasses[/b] They seem to fit right in. I see people complaining about Sun Breaker being OP, but i disagree. I've managed to take them out a few times. ( i suck at crucible FYI) [b]Maps[/b] New maps are fun, and interesting. My favorite by a mile is vertigo. I've really nailed down a good rift and control strat for these maps. I think these maps were purpose built, some play really well in rift while others are just awful for the gamemode. Some play nice in control while others are lacking. Every map plays clash/rumble/etc well. Objective based game modes are a bit spotty, maybe looking at the placement of the spark, or control points will help. Overall however it's fun, and i'm liking it. (Even though i generally hate stepping foot in the crucible, and mostly still do) [b]Modes[/b] Rift is great. It's a nice change. I didn't play mayhem, but will next time i see it. I've heard chatter about Zone Control. I'm looking forward to that game mode. [b]Weapons[/b] This is the most variety i've ever seen. It's great. Don't listen to the pulse rifles are OP cry babies. I just don't see it. Every weapon has a role. I just build for my style and it's working. Been using hand cannons, auto rifles for games where i know i'll be close the the enemy, and pulse rifles and scouts for long range flag defense in control. I'm enjoying not having to carry around the thorn just to be competitive. Balance is very close. Shotguns are still pissing me off, but eh we can't get everything i guess. I've got counters, i just hate them. [b]The bad?[/b] Unkillable lag lords are still a problem. Just yesterday i killed a stormcaller. No problem right? I survived and was running the spark in rift. My team was with me, I was closing in on a completely unguarded rift (because enemy team was running around playing team death match) Then i died, for literally no reason. Said i was killed by storm trance by a dead guy on the other side of the map. You're kidding right? The crucible can't even begin to actually be competitive if these issues are still running rampant. It's just stupid. People teleporting all over the place, taking several hits from golden gun/blade dance/nova bomb/Fist of Havoc/Hammer of Sol/ Shadow shot/ and so on. It's dumb, and ultimately makes the crucible in general un-enjoyable. The only reason i'm playing it right now is for marks, and bounties. I've seen many close games lately, so that's nice. I been seeing more completely one sided matches. That's not fun, even if i'm winning. TTK (Time to Kill) is still wildly variable, which I just personally don't like. It may not be a problem with the game, just something i don't enjoy. [b]Final Verdict[/b] The changes are really good, the new maps and modes are really fun. Weapon balance seems better. The things I really hate about the crucible are still there. (Lag, wildly variable TTK, completely one sided matches) Thank god they break up teams after a severe ass whipping. So my opinion is.... Meh. It's better, just not enough to make we WANT to play it, right now i just NEED to for bounty completion and Legendary Marks. I hope you read this, and let me know what you think.

    Stingy rewards for top players... again. Map rotation is super limited - all maps should be in rotation not just ttk and a limited few pre year 2 maps. Variety keeps the crucible from getting stale. Give people a reason to use a primary, we have a shotgun infestation, not hard to deal with them they just wont stop... its sad, they lack skill and make pvp dull as they are literally moronic targets lunging at you with absolute faith they will kill you, they wont and usually don't... its hilarious... too bad if you screw around with ammo drops snipers will get totally ruined. No private matches No legendary marks!! Ill bring up the lag again, it is the single most irritating aspect of this game in pvp an pve and will surely be for the next destiny game. Someone or a group of someones needs to decide whether or not to shift to dedicated servers when the next installment (destiny 2) releases or at least make mass improvements on the way p2p connections are handled because the way it is right now is keeping this game in the stone age. Red bars ruin matches, every single time, nearly all the time. I want to give the crucible a 10/10 for its sheer mechanic glory and fun aspect, but too many stupid design flaws that can easily be circumvented leave my decision at a 6/10 for poor performance, stingy rewards, lack of player support and lag

      • Mayhem is hands down the most fun pvp mode in Destiny. It's almost nostalgic, like going back to late 90s shooters with insane abilities or physics. If Mayhem ever goes away, I'd be very sad. It's great for blowing off steam, fun with friends (even my friends who don't like pvp love Mayhem), and faster testing of weapons/abilities/armor perks. Legendary marks should be given at the regular 25, then plus 3 for each loss, and 5 for each win afterwards in any pvp mode. Seems like these legendary marks are a bit more difficult to get.

        • I like the cruicble however I would rather see rift gone and mayhem brought back. Mayhem was awesome and it exactly what the crucible needed

        • New crucible playlists are good. What's not good is they don't give legendary marks. Only the daily crucible. Deej told us legendary marks would replace crucible and vanguard marks, but they don't. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/154355034/0/0

        • Crucible players need more more opportunities to obtain legendary marks. Being limited to only 15 per day per account is not ideal. Suggestion: reward 1 mark for every match completion and 2 for every win. This will keep crucible more relevant instead of only being useful for one match a day as well as adding an incentive to be competitive. Thanks

        • Again echoing the thoughts of others, just to strengthen their points: Mayhem is a blast, keep it around. Please provide a way to earn legendary marks from crucible. Strength in numbers! I am expecting to see a change in legendary marks soon, enough people are wanting this.

        • Mayhem is amazing. I've never had so much fun playing crucible. I would suggest to introduce variants of mayhem on a weekly or daily rotation. Variants such as increased grenades only, or increased mele only, increased shields only, increased recovery only, or maybe even a match with heavy ammo only. Heck, maybe even a match that doesn't allow you to regenerate health like in the Crota raid.

          Really, people's main concern is how little marks they get?! When there's no cap anymore...seriously? Actually not getting any marks for playing in the crucible IS kinda gay.... why would you take that out bungie?

            please dont forget about dedicated servers. i'd bet we could come up with some pretty fun and unique game types on our own as a community. imagine what we could do with a Halo style forge function. instead of complaining we could sculpt destiny into something truly great. i understand it can be traumatic to let go of control but i cant think of anything that would do more good for the community.

              We need better ways to get marks. We shouldn't be forced to play strikes. I know Bungie are traditionally really bad at making strikes, but thats no reason to force us to do strikes! PVP players need ways to get marks too, so heres my suggestion: Make better strikes and make a crucible mode that always gives you marks.

              • The reveal said the taken king would make it to where pvp players could stick with pvp and pve could stick with pve but that's not true. Only 15 marks a day. It needs to be equal with pve rewards at least

              • Too many small maps. People hate on shotguns and blink but there wouldn't be this complaint if there were larger maps which required scout rifles and snipers. There's some sort of CQC map fetish happening at Bungie and it needs to stop. Rather then nerfing blink and shotguns which where fine, bring back large maps and put more large maps in. Focus on the real issue instead of nerfing the scapegoat

              • Kept it to bullet points for the sake of brevity. Playing PvP exclusively at the moment as waiting for Thursday night to do new PvE missions with a buddy. - Levelling is so fast as to be meaningless. Levelled 1-20 via crucible and 34-40 took a fraction of the time. - Bounties are much improved, substantially better. - Possible connection issues, I noticed that more matches kick to orbit post 2.0, this almost never happened previously. - Significantly better weapon variety and can actually stand up to the exotic cannons now. Still see practically no fusion rifles. However sadly overshadowing all the above: - Lack of marks from completion does make the activity feel pointless. Many matches give no reward aside from a small amount of rep.

                  The only thing I'd like to change is make it easier to get legendary marks. Instead of 15 for a daily, do 2 for a win, 1 for a loss type of thing. Or maybe only get them if you win. But rift and mayhem are both a blast! What's Zone Control?

                  • Pretty happy with it, but the lack in ability to earn marks from it more than once a day is a bit of a shame. I really enjoy both pvp and pve but the lack of pvp marks is a real drawback.

                    • The only issue is the marks system. Pvp used to be an activity that rewarded you with consistent currency. Now that the currency is unavailable, it almost seems pointless - especially during a time where everyone is trying to gear up for the raid.

                      • tlw, either buff impact or mag size or accuracy, it terribly nerfed right now, if you want to make it have realy short range the i aggree but in that short range it should dominate if used properly yet red death still has better kill time, that bs
