Red bull code theft

I have saw many posts about how to get the codes of off the red bull cans without purchasing them. People are using code generators to cheat others out of the codes that they paid for. What is being done to those who steal codes by using a generator? I have saw posts where they stated that they had used 80 to 100 codes generated. That is basically stealing over 300 dollars from others. Will anything be done to those who steal from others? It has gotten to where 2 out of 3 codes off the cans that I buy have been stolen. That's excessive and something should be done. Hold the thieves accountable for their actions.

  • (Don't get me started, i'm not condoning the theft) now, this is partially their fault for using 3 numbers; 3, 4, 7, and only 13 numbers; H, L, M, N, V, K, P, A, T, F, X, C and R, these of course were arranged randomly in 8 digits with only 2 repeating numbers. You would think Bungie would have learned from Xbox not to use short codes with limited numbers. More so, the codes are always active, they don't activate at register.

    • This is a Red Bull promotion that was hacked back in early July. There are many codes that were "guessed" and used. You have 2 of them. Bungie had no part in this, so you need to be dealing with Red Bull, as they are the ones who made the codes easy to guess. See here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/135194738/0/0 Red Bull will ultimately be taking the hit on this as they are having to give away codes for free. I doubt they will try to find those responsible and take them to court, but I'm sure they learned their lesson about making the codes easy to guess. Once you fill out their contact form you should receive a new code within 2 weeks.

      • I have actually had the issue from the other side of things... I had bought 6 redbull cans and 4 of them had been rejected and said they had been redeemed from a different account. If this happens to you simply email redbull's destiny department and they will be glad to help you if you have a picture of each of the codes that don't work. They will give you new codes to directly use on Bungie.net

There are a few issues with that, as someone else noted one, but the other being that the vast majority of the codes are likely generated using an algorithm, not lifted from the cans themselves. Though maybe people are doing that too, I don't know. Nintendo had the same problem with their Club Nintendo system, once the algorithm for creating Wii Mini codes was cracked, it was possible to generate hundreds of thousands of valid codes. I'm sure there were some duplicated from actual Wii Mini units, too. Nintendo banned accounts that were obviously abusing the system (with multiple Wii Minis registered to one account), but beyond this, they didn't react beyond disabling coins from the codes, a month later. I'm not sure what the TOU are for the codes/Destiny but there would likely be legal backlash if Bungie took action and wrongfully punished someone. Edit: apparently Redbull are compensating those whose codes haven't been working. If you Google it, you should find everything you need! :D

          • Not arguing with you or anything but it's kind of hard to figure out who stole one and who didn't when from what I understand you don't even have to purchase the Can to use the code. Otherwise I understand your pain 80 to 100 codes like who needs that many. personally I didn't know about the entire thing until maybe two days ago and the rewards it gives I'm not personally interested in.
