I love Mayhem! This is exactly what I want to do in PVP.
That said... I don't see why we can't have the opposite, where the match starts off with "Guardians, let's get serious".
The whole point would be really hone a guardian's ability to survive on tactics and gear alone. You know, for those fights where the Light is surpressed.

Yeah only primary and special weapons, and no abilities except grenades
