I've made this kind of thread a few times before. I'm hoping that this time it gains traction because it's really important.
We need large maps. We already have three large maps that are simply exiled to a playlist that sometimes comes around. It's not enough.
I always thought that when first light and bastion were removed from the regular 6v6 playlists that it was a short term change to make room for a true big team battle playlist. It wasn't. From everything I can tell Bungie has abandoned large scale maps. Bungie. Has abandoned. Large scale maps. What happened?
The lack of large scale maps is a balance issue, hence the tag. Scout rifles are starting to come into their own but there's just no use when every map plays into the ideal ranges of pulse rifles and shotguns (formerly exotic handcannons and shotguns). Personally I'm not a fan of sniping but I'd like to see maps where snipers are more valued (but can still be approached). Just anything to break up the tight cooridors and hallways and doorways and the god awful "big circle, little circle, open grenade hell in the middle" maps.
It's one thing if you decided to leave vehicles behind entirely. I get it, it's not halo. It's another to leave vehicles in this current vegetative state. It's an utter disgrace because anyone that's spent the last 10 years with you knows what you're capable of with vehicles and it currently looks like they were phoned in at the last second. Please. Just either get them some help or just put them down I can't bear to see them in pain like this.
We have fireteams of three for strikes and story missions and teams of six for raids and crucible. Just ugh it doesn't have to be a warthog it could be a large sparrow or some kind of sweet hover car or stolen fallen tech or something but just make a three seater vehicle for our squad to conduct drive-bys on the darkness. It's such an obvious idea please JUST DO IT. The fact that this is supposed to be a social game but without any kind of cooperative vehicles is just how how was this not obvious?
Why do the vex and the hive not have vehicles? Like they don't have to be vehicles in the sense of cars but you could easily use an organic symbiotic hive power armor with boomer cannons or a light arial craft that works under the same premises for the vex. Like the flavor text on the vog armor talks about it being bonded with your flesh just imagine the possibilities here.
Map designers and sandbox designers of Bungie: I know you can do better. Bungie has a huge legacy to live up to here but I believe in you all. You can do it. Just believe in yourselves don't run away and hide your maps and vehicles take the challenge head on and become legend damn it.

Yes, Big Team Battle was what made Halo special in multiplayer! Now every game is a COD clone.
-
If they make larger maps, they need bigger lobbies. 6v6 on big maps is incredibly boring, 12v12 would be much better.

Give me Blood Gulch or give me death

I was SO PISSED when they removed the large vehicle maps from teh rotation. They didn't come up that often and they were a super fun change of pace.

Edited by DeusFever: 10/3/2015 10:09:28 PMReading the last patch notes, I think it's clear that Bungie has given up on vehicular combat. This is super sad for a former Halo player such as myself. If feel like Bungie owes on this one. The vehicle combat in Crucible was terrible. The maps provided only 1 driving track around a central set of structures. The vehicles had low health and a huge exposed area easily exploitable by snipers. Any Guardian can spawn with a sniper. Vehicles only held 1 Guardian, discouraging team work. If Bungie is going to bring back vehicles, they need to look back to Halo 3.

Something analogous to the Warthog, in broad terms, would work wonders in this game. Some kind of vehicle which can only be properly operated by multiple people. I'm still amazed they didn't have something like this and include actual vehicle combat more often (One mission on the moon and the single time heavy pikes show up are the only ones I can recall.) Maybe it's a limit of the engine but if so... The engine wasn't good enough.

DO IT!!!

We should also get some more vehicles. especially a warthog esque types
-
Bungie seriously needs to get rid of the smaller-scale maps in 6v6, as well.

Edited by Parabellum5589: 9/17/2015 7:32:02 PMRight now, what do you think the worst pvp map is. I'm saying the one with the servitor thing in the center. Nothing but shotguns. I'm okay with shotguns but I prefer range weapons to sliding in woth a shot gun.
-
Bump. This is the blink-slide-shotgun meta is so strong even now. All of the maps except those 3 favor cqc.
-
-
I feel like Activision has a pretty strong influence on the PvP side of things because these maps have a flow much like CoD,
-
And space comabt. Make it to where our ships are not just cosmetic, but also useful and fun to use.
-
-
I vote us being able to use vehicular combat, especially cabal goliath tanks!
-
bump, as a sniper i don't mind the small maps, its still easy to take down people. I just find this design aspect incredibly limiting and shows no genuine creativity. Small maps are all the same. shotguns here, crouch campers there and a ton of blink (not complaining, still easy to beat it) its just a fact. Close Quarter Combat is here to stay it seems, it's disappointing.
-
Wow, I just got on here to say that exactly. I miss large open maps like Valhalla and Bloodgulch. The ones we did get were big but it was still close quarters areas all over.
