Destiny costed us $60 for the base game and $20 each for the two DLCs, which equals out to $100. Those who got the Limited Edition spent $100 to get the game and both DLCs plus small in-game goodies for purchasing the Limited Edition. Those who bought the Ghost Edition for $150 had everything the Limited Edition contained plus the Ghost figure. We are now onto the second phase of Destiny with The Taken King DLC with a price of $40. Because this is the new pricing and the value of the old content is obviously reduced, we'll go with the base pricing for The Taken King as our starting price.
So, The Taken King, although a DLC, is supposedly to be a much larger DLC than the previous two, so we'll count TTK's value to be worth as two DLCs, hence the $40 price tag. With $60, you can buy the Legendary Edition that includes the base game of Destiny and all 3 DLCs. Since TTK is worth $40, that would mean that within the Legendary Edition, the base game and the first two DLCs combined are all worth $20. The Collector's Edition, with the price of $80, includes everything in the Legendary Edition plus 3 new Emotes, 3 new Armor Shaders, 3 new Exotic Class Items with Bonus XP, and a couple of physical goodies (especially the Strange Coin Replica), which stands as a $20 increase. The Digital Collector's Edition however costs the same at $80, but all the physical bonuses are removed, which to me lowers the value of this option. Finally, due to the communities reaction of not being able to obtain the Collector's Edition bonuses without buying what they've already bought again, the bonus contents of the "DIGITAL" Collector's Edition became separate with a price tag of $20.
Now...although I am glad that the Collector's Edition bonuses were separated to allow Destiny players who have already bought the base game and the DLCs can purchase without having to buy everything else again, in my opinion, the price in value is still not right. $20 for just 3 new Emotes, 3 new Armor Shaders, and 3 new Exotic Class Items with XP Bonuses, compared to how much content The Dark Below or House of Wolves contained for the same price, does not have the money's worth in value, especially when the Collector's Edition comes with physicals where the digital version does not for the same price.
In all honesty, without the physical bonuses that the Collector's Edition contains -- for that reasonable and understandable $20 add-on -- the Digital Collectors Edition isn't even worth it's value to buy or needed for that matter. The Digital Bonuses of the Collector's Edition could have been done in three ways.
(1) Players who have already purchased both "The Dark Below" and "House of Wolves" DLC will receive the Collector's Edition Bonuses included with the purchase of "The Taken King: Digital Download" for $40.
(2) Those who purchase the Collector's Edition will of course receive everything for $80, which includes the base game, all three DLCs, and both digital and physical bonuses, which can only be available through this purchase option.
(3) Players can purchase the Collector's Edition bonuses at the Marketplace for $5 or $10 (because this is NOT a $20 price value) after meeting a certain requirement in-game.
Unless the $20 upgrade is a very limited time offer OR more benefits/perks are presented later for those who do purchase the upgrade (or the Collector's Edition), then the pricing needs to be addressed.

Totally agree. I have a question, Do you know if the Ttk expansion in the collectors edition is a digital code or is it on a disc?
