Skolas's brother, The house of Kings Kell. (Theory)(MUST READ)

Theory Time my theory that Skolas has a brother who is the Kell of the Kings. Now i strongly believe that Skolas is based on a Norse character called Skoll. Skoll is a wolf (coincidence) and Skoll has a brother called Hati. Skoll (pronounced roughly “SKOHL”; Old Norse Sköll, “One Who Mocks”)(funny how Skolas mocks you throughout the whole campaine)and Hati (pronounced “HAHT-ee”; Old Norse Hati, “One Who Hates) are two wolves who are only mentioned in passing references that have to do with their pursuing Sol and Mani, the sun and moon, through the sky in hopes of devouring them. At Ragnarok, the downfall of the cosmos, they catch their prey as the sky and earth darken and collapse. It’s not entirely clear which one of them pursues the sun and which pursues the moon. The medieval Icelandic historian Snorri Sturluson, whose works are typically taken at face value in low-quality introductory books on Norse mythology, claims that Skoll chases the sun and Hati the moon.[1] However, Snorri’s source in this passage, the Eddic poem Grímnismál, says the following in the relevant stanza: Skoll is the name of the wolf Who follows the shining priest Into the desolate forest, And the other is Hati, Hróðvitnir’s son, Who chases the bright bride of the sky.[2] The noun used for Skoll’s prey, goði (“priest”), is masculine, and the noun used for Hati’s prey, brúðr(“bride”) is feminine. Since Mani (the moon) is male, and Sol (the sun) is female, the wording of this stanza strongly suggests that Skoll hunts the moon and Hati the sun. Now from that we can draw the comparison. Skolas was only willing to negotiate with the kings and not ruthlessly take they’re house by force. we can see thwi because he sends an am,bassideor to the kings house and they send thri own, unlike what hes done to all the other houses.why? because why would he do that when his brother is the Kell. they are both Kells witha god complex. and Skolas is clearly Skoll, the one who chased the moon and Hati chased the sun (A.K.A The Traveler) One other thing that leads me to believe that the sun is the traveler is that many believe the Traveler to be Alpha lupi. and alpha lupi is always mentioned as female. this ties to the poem about the sun being considered female. also many of the grimoire cards give hints to it as some are titled “dreams of Alpha Lupi” this hints that Alpha lupi is asleep, as is the traveler. the similarities are uncanny. now if Hati chased the sun, that makes sense as the House of Kings is the house which has the most interests in the Traveler. that is because the Kings Kell wants the traveler for himself, He chases it. and Skolas chases the moon,or as the poem says “the Shining Priest” now sun and moon are opposites, night and day, light and darkness. if The Sun represents the traveler which is the light, then the moon represents the darkness. Skolas chased the darkness. the purest form of the darkness, the Travelers Mirror. or… it could mean another thing, if we take “shining priest” into the consideration, skolas also chased the Vex tech. he went in the Vault of glass. could the Shining priest” be Atheon? Edit: okay so after research i cannot find this card. for everyone asking. until futher notice, pay no attention to the top half of the theary. although my current writing below the grimoire card is still very factual.

  • Interesting theory. One thing that does support credence to you mentioning the Old Norse myths has a foundation to the lore, is that Skolas repeatedly tries to weaponize the Darkness for his own end. He hired Tanniks The Scarred, and we were sent in Variks's words to "stop him from stealing The Dark". When we took on the mercenary warlord and killed him, Skolas already had a backup plan to pierce the Vault of Glass and harness Vex technology. If you look at the grimoire card for "Queen's Ransom", Skolas also has knowledge of Oryx. He makes mention of "Light-Snuffer, Dark-Binder", which spurs the Queen into action. If Skolas "chases after the dark", then what are the odds that he was doing what he was doing in order to attempt to make a stand against Oryx? Maybe his delving into the forces of darkness alerted him to a malevolent God King, and in his madness the only hope was to fulfill the prophecy of "Kell Of Kells"? The Kell of Kells, according to the lore, was supposed to be a Kell so powerful that "the Great Machine would see his might, and reawaken"... and if you were a species scattered to the brink of extinction like the Eliksni, taking on an upper god of the Darkness pantheon would probably require the assistance of an entity like the Traveler. Just speculating here. Ultimately none of my pondering stopped me from shooting him in the face until he died.

The only flaw i see with it is the whole kings negotiation. I personally belive(with facts to back it up) that he didnt attack them because house of kings is the strongest fallen house. Petra and Variks actually state that the kings are very dangerous and the most dangerous fallen threat left. Keep in mind that to properly function a fallen house must have these things- a kell, an archon priest and a high servitor. I will now list which of these each house still has. House of devils- no kell, no archon priest and no high servitor. House of exile- little info, most likely never had any of the three. House of winter- No archon priest, no kell. It is possible the high servitor is still alive, we don't know much about it. House of wolves-no kell, no high servitor, archon priest dead Now the kicker. House of Kings still has their kell, archon priest and high servitor. To add to that, while the other fallen throw themselves at us with seemingly no strategy currently(key word), the kings operate in secret and exert little of their military. By all logical means this should mean they have the most force available to them. Skolas might have avoided war and chosen negotiation because a full on house war could have incapacitated or destryoed the wolves. The grimiore also states that the house kings have the devils and exiles under their control, this alone makes them a MAJOR threat
fun facts about other fallen houses House of judgement-Variks is the only known living member, they had no forces and almost seemed like the universal fallen government as they kept the peace and all houses accepted them. House of rain- fallen house that has been hinted at, most likely doesnt exist anymore as we have next to no knowledge of them Credit to dahn225 House of stone- may exist rarely hinted at taniks might be house stone. See his comment for more info
• You know after just reading that grimoire piece with the title it just feels so right, maybe not brothers in the sense that we know them, but brothers in arms at one point. There's clearly a civility between them, like they go back, an understanding. How could Skolas understand a secret Kell if he didn't know him at some point.

This is very interesting. The Wolves and Kings have had connections before (like Askor wearing King colours but being captured in the Reef, helping the Wolves). This does explain why the Wolves thought the Kings would be allies, rather than trying to kill them like the Devils, and why the Kings even let allowed the meeting of their Barons to take place. This seems intentionally vague, however, as the Traveller could be described as both a moon and a Light. If we assume Skolas was chasing the "moon" (or the power of the Darkness) that immediately implicates the King Kell; Hati. My group, Lore Vanguard, covers this sort of stuff, and it would be great if you could check us out and share some of your knowledge.

                          •
Grimoire card: Ghost Fragment- House of Kings Variks: You ask of House Kings, yes? They of the secret Kell. They who rule over ancient ruins in hope of one day returning to the shadow of the Great Machine. Kings are very mysterious, yes. Petra: I want to know what they are truly capable of. Variks: *laughing* Kings are very good at veiling their hand. They have embraced the Dark, so that none can steal from them anything, yes? Knowledge cannot be stolen so simply. Were it so easy… Petra: You joke now, but you said earlier that they could’ve proven a match for even Skolas. It was long my belief that the Wolves were the single most powerful House in the system… Variks: Kings only rarely fight in the open. They fight through their puppets: the Devils and Exiles. Petra: Kind of like Skolas…. Variks: What little I have heard of Kings’ Kell brings me to same conclusion. Petra: So why would Skolas try to treat with them? Variks: Skolas wants to take control of all Houses, yes? Kings are House, yes? Petra: No, no, that’s not what I meant. I mean, why would he trust them enough to try diplomacy? He didn’t with the Devils and he just completely ignored Exile. Winter didn’t have a Kell anyway, so that one was easy. Variks: Skolas may be cunning in his madness, but Kell of Kings is mad in his cunning. Kell of Kings lets one thing be known of him. He wishes to keep Great Machine for himself, to rule over not only Eliksni, but all creatures. Petra: So we may have two Kells with a God complex?
