Only Hard Mode Crota drops the Crux.
You do not need anything to get it, it's just subject to RNG and is very rare.

I know it drops only in hard, I heard that you can even do normal first and you must do hard mode.

Normal mode has nothing to do with the Crux. It's like how Primary weapons only drop on normal, The Crux only drops on Hard mode.

Of course you can do Normal first if you want to. That's if you want the weapons that only drop on Normal. But if not then you can just do Hard mode as it gives double drops.
