Mr. Fruit's View on Titans and Class Balancing

Titans should be buffed (I am a Titan)

Titans should be buffed (I am not a Titan)

EDIT: Please ignore the poll, I accidentally posted it unfinished and now I can't change it.
As to all those who don't believe that Titans are the worst, and are trying to refute me. I could spend a whole video talking about it, but almost every point you all bring up - the other classes either have it built-in, or an exotic that outclasses it. Bubblebro is priceless in PvE. But for PvP, Titans are just at a clear disadvantage. As a person who has used every class, and every subclass, and has most time put into a Titan this is the consensus I've come to. Thankfully it looks like Sunbreaker is going to change things for Titans in PvP, but let's look at it realistically: Slowest agility : Yes you can use the "triple" tap jump to speed around, but it's not intuitive to most and it's not always practical to run around doing it in PvP and in a gunfight, you don't have the same speed to strafe or even run away - not to mention blink is just a get out of jail free card. It's so easy to avoid supers, heavies etc with blink, but titans can't get away so even overall titan's k/d usually don't match up with the other classes. It's the "TANKY" class : We're supposed to be the frontline, however even when we max our armor out we only have 1 more health than a hunter in PvP I believe, and are tied with Warlocks. The Ram alone gives Warlocks like 22 more health in PvP which is insane. Melee : We're supposed to be the melee class, but it's a fact our melee is the worst. No range to it. Hunters are above it especially with blink strike glitch, and the warlock is just a mile ahead of them both. Yes we have shoulder charge, but as you can see it's pretty easy to counter if you know what you're up against and titans also have to usually prep for shoulder charge beforehand knowing when it'll be up after sprinting, and how long it'll be up. Supers: The Fist of Havoc is situational, rarely nets several kills, and you almost feel punished for using it at times because it always seems like you need to save it for a cluster, which rarely seems to happen. Warlocks have the same thing in the form of Nova Bomb, which they can send from a safe distance. Hunters have a super that pretty much guarantees 2-4 kills every activation. Exotics: Yes the Saint-14 is great... in PvE. It can help occasionally in PvP, but using bubblebro in PvP is already putting you at a disadvantage. Ruin Wings are bugged and only useful for PvE. Arma is great for two grenades which can help, but warlocks have that perk built into their subclass already. Pretty much any other exotic is completely niche, or just offers a perk that's already in your subclass. Feedback fences? It tickles the enemy, I've gotten 1 kill across my hours of playtime using it. PvP you just have nothing that really helps, and so I often use Inmost light just because it lets me take 2 skills for my super. You can all sit here and argue on and on about it, but I can say without a doubt that Bungie is sitting on data that backs up exactly what I'm saying - especially PvP. I talked to Luke Smith and Mark about this while I was at bungie for hours on end. The Titans just don't have anything they really shine at, except for being the staple for most PvE encounters with the Bubble. They told me they're aware of it and are always looking at ways to fix it. So fingers crosses, but even Bungie knows Titans are a notch down from the others. The bubble is near useless in PvP because it can't protect against supers, you can't use it as a reactive defense because everything bursts it. Anyway like I said I could go on and on and on about this because as someone who wants the Titans so badly to be really good, it hurts to realistically look at it and know that we're just not at the same tier with the current build. I'm not going to respond to the comments to this because it won't get us anywhere, you're always free to disagree. /rant
-Mr. Fruit This comment can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrH5FmnCm8c This is probably the best argument for class balancing I've seen in a long time. The video (Specifically the first round) shows the clear disadvantages that the Titan has in the melee department, even with shoulder charge. And in the round where they were all using an auto rifle, Mr. Fruit absolutely crushed Blue and Rhabby, so he's likely more skilled than them, but in the other rounds in this series it doesn't look like it because abilities were allowed in those rounds. Other Thread with more evidence: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/147725199/0/0 Statistics thread: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/151174823/0/0 Tell me if you agree or disagree, and if you do disagree please give a valid argument rather than "Fist of Havoc/Shoulder Charge/Lightning Grenades is/are OP" or at least give some form of evidence to prove it. Thanks for Reading!

  • I believe Titans should stay where they are, they're in a good spot right now. It's a lot of fun to play as them and not the end of the world while going up against them. Plus they're also in a decent balance on the forums, love and hate are fairly balanced for them. Titan haters incoming, ready to burn the forums.

    • I just don't agree... Everyone screams that the titan is at a disadvantage. Which ok yes it is... So look at it this way. Instead of begging for all these different things how about you adapt to what your given. Overcome this obstacle and be better than the hunter. Don't try to fist fight a warlock... Out shoot him. I have no trouble with my titan in PvP... I'm definitely not the best or top percentage for PvP. But I do well enough

      • Titans have a good deal more health than hunters in pvp. I main a hunter and decided to run IB as Titan for IB gear. Against the current main weapons, it felt like I was taking an extra hit to be killed. Shoulder charge is pretty effective when used right. Try using it with verticality. As a lot of people camp corners with shotys. The base weapon changes with greatly benefit Titans. Increasing TTK will make the extra armor matter even more. Main problem I see with people complaining about Titans being weak in pvp are builds that either don't fit the class well or that simply don't match the players play style. Titans aren't warlocks or hunters. Sure it's cool to be a main battle tank on legs, but it might not be the best class for you. I see a lot run speed Titans in crucible. In my opinion, the speed isn't worth the armor for that class. And I do agree that the ram make locks way too tanky. They need to cap the high end value of armor for the class. But Titans aren't supposed to be ability based either. It's all fists guns and shields. They are like Hakke weapons. Hammers not scalpels, stat based and meant to do one thing really really well.

      • Yes, Titans need a buff (I've used the 6 Subclasses extensively). I will be making a post about that soon.

Everyone keeps talking about shoulder charge. Are you kidding? Do you know how many Titans I've side-stepped and one-shotted with backstab?! Now that I've played with it I feel like it's terrible, and so is the regular melee. Warlocks can put on ram and reach the same armor level, with more recovery. Really? Don't even get me started on defender Titans. The melee requires a kill, while warlocks get flame shield first hit. No blink, incredibly horrible jumps -.- TItans are the weakest characters on the game. They need a buff

            • I couldn't agree with this more. I get the arguments about how it's possible to counter every other super with the turn supers however it is much more difficult as a Titan rather than with hunters or warlocks. There is a reason that the top players in the world are all hunters with a few warlocks.

            • Titans are underpowered, end of story. Our melees suck, Defender is easily destroyed, FOH has no range, we don't have blink, hell we aren't the tankiest class anymore! The Ram Warlock is now! Titans are the bulky class and therefore should always be the toughest class. Our grenades are alright but the other two classes still have better grenades. The sad thing is that on the top 100 DTR list, there's only 7 Titans while the rest are Warlocks & Hunters. There's an overwhelming amount of irrefutable proof that shows that Titans are the weakest PvP class. Now let me get this straight: anyone who says they suck in PvE is obviously terribly misinformed or just a b8er.

I really should make my own youtube channel. Considering this guy is all about PVP he doesnt know what he is talking about. Shit, most people who use titans dont know what they are talking about. Luckily I have a few minutes before my meeting... The common misconception here is that titans are the "tank" class... they are not... anybody remember what the titan is supposed to play like (inspiration of the design) like masterchief... remember that guy from halo who didnt have any supers and still took down like four armies with just a br and some grenades? Titans are not tanks, as they are not crowd control characters, that role falls to the warlock... titans are...... wait for it.... (hint what was masterchief).... no? Tactical... Yes, titans are meant to be tactical, the evidence is in their grenades!!! Flashbang (blinds), pulse (deters), lightning/spike (zones), suppressor (stops abilities) the magnetic grenade is really the only traditional kill grenade that the titan has. Its super is also meant to be a way of detering or stopping enemies in their tracks. Bubbles are meant to be placed strategically and used as a means to reinforce your team, not sit in like a castle. Titans are all about gun play, positioning, well placed grenades, and zoning. Again, it is the tactical class. You only push, when you have the advantage and know they are weak. Even the exotics exemplify the tactical gameplay of the titan. Yet everyone thinks of this class as a tank... Its not... the term titan means person of immense importance or stature. Not tank. Just because something is big doesnt mean it is all powerful, which is how the olympians defeated the titans. If some of these people, stopped complaining about the short comings, and realized what the classes' true intent is, they would be better. Titans: tactical gameplay. Warlocks: crowd controllers. Hunters: survivors/solo play Edit: for the record I main a warlock. Yet I understand mechanics

                  • First of all... Mr Fruitcake is a tool and his opinion is by no means valid (unless you're 12 and you actually find his shit videos entertaining). Second, Titan melee sucks? Uhm, shoulder charge. Next, fist of panic situational? News flash, ALL supers are situational you idiot. Do you think a hunter immediately activities golden gun as soon as the bar fills, or a Warlock jumps off the map just to self res as soon as it's super is available? Get the -blam!- out of here with your whiny ass Titan bullshit.

IDK about you guys, but the titan defender's my favorite class in both PvP and PvE. They're so underrated. The titan bubble may not stop enemy supers, but the suppression grenade sure does. Can you imagine the disappointment in a sunslinger's face when he/she activates his/her super but then poof it's suddenly gone? It takes some practice, even I haven't perfected it yet, but it's worth it. The barrier-melee might not be as effective as the sunslinger's shiled melee at first look since you need to get a kill first, but you need to take another look. You can upgrade it to be stronger, increase your reload speed, or continuously regenerate. The defender would be too OP if the barrier activated without a kill. And do not underestimate the ward of dawn. You say it doesn't shield against supers? But what super does??? A blade dancer is beaten by any super. So is a sunslinger. Any super is defeated by a super cast after it in most cases. The bubble's such a clutch in PvP when you use it well. Ever seen a bubble train? If anything, the sunbreaker might make the titan more OP. Not complaining though.

                          • I can go top of the leaderboard with my Titan. Go above the other team and beat out my friends who main Hunter and Warlock. Not saying they need a buff or whatever, but don't make the class sound useless in PVP, anyone who plays the class and knows how to play can wreck with a Titan.

                          • I think the way to solve the melee problem should be: Titans: smallest range, most damage (not OHKO) Hunter: same as normal. Maybe fix blink strike, even tho I'm pretty sure the glitch is with backstab) Warlock: greatest range, least damage. (I'm sorry, but their melee is literally a Shotgun ATM. Let them keep the range but reduce the damage to the point that it's maayyybbe a 3 hit KO?)
