Salvage is a playlist that rotates availability, like Combined Arms. I think it was one of the options last week. Just keep an eye out on the playlists being offered each week, and hopefully it will be offered again soon.

oh so its not a set game type? I don't play a lot of crucible and was thinking that the game type might be unavailable now there for making the achievement impossible. I will keep an eye out for it now when I log on. is there somewhere that shows the schedule of the game types and when they come around?

Only Control, Clash, Rumble, and Skirmish are always available. Other playlists are offered on a weekly rotation. I'm not aware of any published schedule, although there could be some 3rd party sites that have figured out a pattern to when the rotated playlists will appear. Honestly haven't every looked for a schedule.
