thats happened to me, if you cut the update short or it messes up, the controller is not able to be used.
if you cant figure out how to fix it, maybe you should switch to PS4

Ok genius tell me how you did it? I changed the batteries Did a hard console reset Plugged my controller directly into the xbox Left it plugged in for 20 min Pressed the xbox button with the menu buttons Tried hitting the connection button to reconnect to the console Nothing still dead with no power So troll elsewhere.

you literally just update it again haha, use smartglass if you don't have another controller

Whack the controller on xbox one then switch off re power, do it again and then switch on. I think it will work
