BTW got a few people asking me why the switch, basically, xbox released an update for my controller, which I thought was interesting, so I accept and the update starts and it says there was an error and my controller shuts off, no big I'll just turn it on and retry. But wait, controller wont turn on, damn time to hit the forums for the solution... I try several things, failure after failure so let's talk to xbox support they will know what to do. I call them we try a few things then he says nothing we can do at this point, ok fair enough technology fails us time to time. So I ask what do we do from here the response, buy a new controller. I say, wait, I got this controller 2 months ago, he says ok ok let's get your numbers.. ok here ya go, he responds with looks like you have a day one edition of the xbox one. Yes sir I reply, my original controller got a spill on it so I bought this beauty. Then what he says next just stumped me, he tells me "all warranty on accessories and controllers are attached with the console, you can buy 5 tomorrow and warranty will be void because the age of your console..... arguments happen supervisors get on the phone, then finally I get hung up on.... I have nothing against the console itself other then the crooks who manufacturer the console. That's why I switched.

Bro it's simple get your controller box from the controller you just bought and take it to Walmart and tell them "I got this as a gift last week and it's not working. I want to exchange it". They'll have you go get a new one and trade it. Simple

4 RepliesBad customer service experiences happen all the time for both consoles, it sucks I know and they happen to anyone You should do some math and probably some saving, if you can buy an used Xbox controller and get the ps4 edition you want that would be he best, having both consoles is a win win situation, it took me 2 years to find that out Whatever you do man do it because that's what you want and not because that's what people are telling you to do

If a controller you recently purchased is defective, they ask for the product information of your defected product...like serial number, purchase date etc...the controller...not the xbox one...unless your controller is the same controller that came with it in the original package. [spoiler]which it isn't in your case[/spoiler] Otherwise, the normal practice of a year limited manufacturer warranty is common practice. I've had my entire console replaced cause it randomly f[b]u[/b]cked up. Went to a Microsoft store, guy input the information, I didn't have a receipt from best buy but he still pulled the buy date. Then replaced my xbox 1 with one stocked at the Microsoft store [spoiler]after testing my original was defective of course [/spoiler], and proceeded to tell me to make sure everything works when I'm home, that the warranty only last 1 year unfortunatley and that there isn't anything they can do if it pasts that year mark unless you purchased extended warranty through retailers [spoiler]which then retailers usually supply a new console or gift card[/spoiler] I was happy. I had my "enraged customer" mode switch at the ready. You'd be suprised what retialers would do just to get you out of their store. Haven't done it myself, but have witnessed it when I worked retail years ago lol was happy to not have to do it....you just never know if you'll get a bullshit rep or not. Sounds about right though right?. This in no way justifies when a console f[b]u[/b]cks up prematurely though. Some people buy their xbox, hardly touch it for months on end, finally a game is available they're interested in, install said game, bam...crash and burn error. 1 years up? F[b]u[/b]ck this shit. I'd probably be hella discouraged to ever buy a xbox in the future too. The year warranty is pretty much "business as usual" though. In certain cases they probably help you out if you talk to the right person. Probably rare though. Maybe save your defective controller, and find someone who has a "newer console" to call for you to "qualify" a controller replacement...since this plothole in your OP suggests all you need is console data to be under warranty to do so.

2 RepliesLol you just dealt with some asshole that doesn't know his own product. Nothing is ever linked to its system. Everything is an individual product. You're either a bullshitter or dealt with someone who eats bullshit. And good luck with playstation support. They're just as bad if not worse. I had a problem with my playstation where I kept getting an error code every time I played a game and my game system would turn on automatically and eject my disk. This happened closed to a year after I bought it but it was still under warranty. Every time I tried to contact them through playstation support on their website, I'd get some shit advice they would tell me to try it out and then end chat. They eventually ended up blocking my ip of something because I couldn't contact them anymore from my laptop and I had to use my ladies phone to contact them. They even told me to repurchase the game online and when that didn't work they told me they couldn't give me a refund even thou they insisted in the first place. After I called them for what seemed like the 50 time and they finally gave me someone who could help, they told me there was nothing else I could do and to send it in for try and fix it. My problems started 3 weeks before my warranty expired and they told me to send it in a week after. I go online to process the order and they wanted to charge me $200 to try and fix it. I was just done with playstation after that. Tl:dr- playstation support is probably a bigger piece of dookie than Comcast support.

Legitimate reason. As a consumer i'd be pissed too. I still would have tried exchanging at the retail lvl if possible. I had a hella hard time dealing with xbox support during the CoDAW digital day zero debacle. It was just mindnumbing how support had no info on the matter when so many people preordered and purchased a game they cant access. Smfh.
