This was the best Breaking In interview I've read so far. It's better than Shishka's which I also enjoyed thoroughly. Both Matt and Shishka have very inspirational stories. Matt seems like someone who deserves to be where he is.
Posted by: storminc0w goo job bungie employees
I don't know what a "goo job" is, nor do I know what it looks like. All I can say is that I don't like the sound of it...
Stop waiting for things to happen for you - bleed and sweat to make things happen. It is easy to look at those who are successful and label them as "lucky."
I have started typing a comment to this a few times but it always seems to end up being a political message, so instead I think I will just go with, "A very interesting interview!" and leave it at that.

Ahhh the Producers, the one beacon of hope I have that I could possibly persuade (bribe) Bungie into letting me have a job there. Nice to see that Matt isn't giving out any more details about what he's working on than he did at PAX last year. As I was not-so-secretly stalking all the Producers (thanks again to Kuniklo) it was interesting getting to hear what they do from their perspective. It's a very hard job to try to nail down exactly what you do guys, so I'm glad they did this "breaking in". Must be quite a change going from the more technical side of things (test/engineer) to working with animators. Too bad you don't have Bentllama there anymore, at least you could always count on it being interesting!! Great write-up Urk. ~B.B.

That was an entertaining read right there. So where you the one who came up with the idea for vidmaster Annaul achievement?

It would be interesting to see how many people got into Bungie with qualifications that you wouldn't directly associate with the videogame industry, or IT. You're still a lucky man, Matt, whether you like it or not! ^^

Co-op rules, although more players would have been better. since all games are only doing 4 player co-op. I do hope future projects Incorporate the co-op feature, and a bonus, if its more than 4. [Edited on 04.17.2009 4:58 AM PDT]

Mr. Richenburg, is there a marketing department at bungie? are they hiring? Cause my dad is the president of the eMarketing Association, and he could easily get me the training i need to be a top-notch marketing executive. [Edited on 04.16.2009 4:24 PM PDT]

Congratulations Matt for getting that awesome job! I'm going to work on a videogame company some day, but maybe a new one... just as great and awesome like bungie. One can dream... :)

Is there ever going to be anything about writing?...Or did I miss that? I'm not a wizard with anything other than writing and Voice acting... Will there be any advice given on those somewhere down the road?
