Why removing Grimoire Score from Nameplate would harm dedicated playerbase.

The Grimoire score, something many of us cherish and have worked so hard to increase or max has been removed from the emblem nameplate insignia? Why?!?! Why do we need to see both base AND light levels on the emblem card? Eventually everyone will be level 40, and people can easily inspect to view this redundant info. Grimoire is a great way to instantly distinguish between more accomplished and engaged players than viewing whether they are base level 30 or 40. (Original Poster: MagusEmeritus = https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/147666793/0/0) I agree with many of my group members here that removing the grimoire from nameplate is not something the endgame community wanted. The now nearly 3000 of us worldwide who have worked, grinded, and spent countless hours perfecting destiny feel this is our identity and would really undermine the incredible tasks we accomplished in literally beating every challenge the game has to offer. We already are under rewarded with our achievement considering there is really no reward or incentive to obtain the maximum obtainable grimoire, that however has not stopped myself and my fellow group mates from doing it. In addition if what is stated in this post is true, not only will this trend continue, but you will this will take away the very identity my entire group has worked so hard to earned and deserve to keep. Please do the right thing Bungie ^.^ Here are some example Nameplates with the grimoire remaining. People put a lot of work and grinding into game modes they maybe don't love to boost their Grimoire score. It's a bit sad Bungie think so little of this. Please leave it where it is - it's sparked numerous conversations and congratulatory remarks between players in games. A real shame to lose that.

    • I don't know why you would get rid of it, obviously there are some bad people out there with high Grimoire score but equally it shows those who are good. Eventually everyone will be the same level with the same light level, then how will you tell people apart? If not a Grimoire score maybe something else similar to what destiny tracker does and gives you a rating on pvp and pve..

        • Maybe it's because you shouldn't want to distinguish yourself by means of a GAME. It's only one of the many things that are wrong with people nowadays; to attach significance to perfectly superficial things, and attempt to generate status and/or identity through them.

          • Grimoire doesn't really mean anything. It can be 'earned' simply playing next to someone. Mostly seems to be a tool for elitists to instantly know noobs and call them such

            • Why does everyone care so much about Grimoire score being visible? It's meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

Although my score is decent, 3305 as of right now. I'm not bothered by it if they remove it from my display. People (not all in the game) care about their grimoire score because of their own egos. Sure it shows what you've accomplished in the game that's great good for you that's awesome. SOME people need it to say "I'm better than you at this game and have more experience". Screw the fact that the game is supposed to be for our own entertainment and fun. I can see it now, if they don't change something about a player's ability to boot people from a fireteam this is just another way some players are going to be abusing the ability to boot players from a fireteam. The following scenario is just something off the top of my head so please excuse the names lol: JoeSchmo, grimiore score of 3165, is doing a raid with his friends, who all have a score that are at least in the 3000s and they need one more to jump in. A random person that is off someones friends list that one of his friends played with maybe a couple of times jumps in. JoeSchmo: "Hey bro what's your grimoire score?" BigTimeJohn: "2655" BigTimeJohn then sees his screen go black and the following sentence comes up on the screen "You have been removed from your fireteam & returned to Orbit". I can't count the number of stories I've heard or read on here about people being booted for various different reasons. The most common ones on here seem to be, "I was booted after beating Skolas as we were heading down to the treasure room, or I died once doing against Atheon because I made a mistake." I don't know, this is just my 2 cents.

                • I agree, if you see a lvl 5 who has 3000+ grimoire you know they have other characters and aren't scrubs.

You mean it's a way to make yourself seem like you're better then someone else. Isn't it enough that you know? that your circle of friends has already figured out what type of player you are. If players have a reputation in this game, it has nothing to do with a set of numbers.

                      • I agree with you... when looking for players for hard Raids when they first come out... NO WAY am I going to start it with low grimmoirse score NOOBS that will hold us down... sure there are good players with low grimmoire scores, just like there are bad players with high grimmoire scores... but on average.. usually people with high grimmoire score know what they are doing... thats why I prefer to play with those ... Especially when new content is out... I remember when Crota first came out... I struggled to kill crota with so many groups.. then I finally got with a good group.. and it was so freaking EASY ! It makes a HUGE difference playing with n00bs or good players ! And when new content comes out ... I wont take my chances any more with n00bs ... sorry n00bs ... I help you out a lot by carrying you through raids, prison etc... but when new content comes out... STOP CRYING AND BITCHING NO ONE WANTS YOU... first practice ! Then you are more then welcome.. .but a noob that just played two weeks no one wants to have on a Hard Raid ... experience does matter.. I like to see grimmoire instantly as well... though to be honest... its one click away... Im not bothered that much...

                        • I have put several hundred hours into this game and an also one of the few thousand players who have completed all current game content and maxed my grimoire score so I will state my opinion. Its understandable that Bungie is taking away the visual grimoire score on name cards as I feel it would be clustered with all the information it will be displaying come TTK, player level, player light, and player name. However I do believe it is still possible to see a players grimoire in game post TTK simply by inspecting them, it just makes it slightly more inconvenient, and Im also not 100% sure this is confirmed but Im about 90% sure this is how it will work. All and all I would enjoy to display my amazing number of grimoire score on my name card, however with the upcoming changes it just doesnt seem possible. If we do have to inspect players to find grimoire it will not be the end of the world and all will be fine.
