Why removing Grimoire Score from Nameplate would harm dedicated playerbase.

The Grimoire score, something many of us cherish and have worked so hard to increase or max has been removed from the emblem nameplate insignia? Why?!?! Why do we need to see both base AND light levels on the emblem card? Eventually everyone will be level 40, and people can easily inspect to view this redundant info. Grimoire is a great way to instantly distinguish between more accomplished and engaged players than viewing whether they are base level 30 or 40. (Original Poster: MagusEmeritus = https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/147666793/0/0) I agree with many of my group members here that removing the grimoire from nameplate is not something the endgame community wanted. The now nearly 3000 of us worldwide who have worked, grinded, and spent countless hours perfecting destiny feel this is our identity and would really undermine the incredible tasks we accomplished in literally beating every challenge the game has to offer. We already are under rewarded with our achievement considering there is really no reward or incentive to obtain the maximum obtainable grimoire, that however has not stopped myself and my fellow group mates from doing it. In addition if what is stated in this post is true, not only will this trend continue, but you will this will take away the very identity my entire group has worked so hard to earned and deserve to keep. Please do the right thing Bungie ^.^ Here are some example Nameplates with the grimoire remaining. 3605 grimoire, spent 100s of 100s of hours getting it, doing rumble and salvage which I hate, doing 250 level 8 nexus strikes, doing VIP patrol missions. Was it all for nothing?

    • In the new teaser it was right under the hunter's level, it was 85, so it's not gone.

      • If it were merely the score you cared about, you wouldn't mind having it removed from the nameplate. "Dedicated" players would gladly take the few extra steps to observe each other's grimoire progress. That is a fact guaranteed by the fundamentals of dedication. Doing all that is necessary, no matter how difficult, no matter how annoying. From how your post is worded, I fear it is only your pride at risk. You speak of the identity you "deserve", and describe grimoire score in a manner which would suggest that you believe it to set players apart from one another. Why else would you care if it were displayed on the player's nameplates, the first (and often only) thing observed by other players? There are trace amounts of elitism in this writing, and it would be wise to clarify your intentions if you wish to maintain any semblance of objectivity. I understand your score is hard earned, and something to be proud of, but at the same time, suggesting that it be constantly displayed raises an understandable level of skepticism from the less dedicated, general public. They might go so far to assume that you just want attention and respect from them, a possibility that would likely bring you the opposite. As someone who wishes to see this community thrive with positivity, I don't want that to be the case for you. If any negativity was gleaned from my message, I apologize.

You've just got an invite from some level 27 or higher and they want to do a raid, nightfall, or something along those lines. First response is not checking their light level or gear, but their grimoire score. a 3000+ grimoire tells me you worked hard to get your gear and you play the game enough to be above average. A lower grimoire doesn't always mean they lack skill, are a little kid, or somebody who just got their copy of Destiny recently. It is the first thing that I'm sure many people check like me. I worked hard so very hard to get my grimoire score removing that from my nameplate would be a slight against my dedication to the game. In conclusion bump.

              • Does it really matter? It's not like it's going entirely, just inspect that person and it'll be clearly displayed under their level. If you're that eager to flaunt, just equip the year 1 emblem or something. Having a visible light level at glance will be way more useful than grimoire score to be honest.

              • Because they know that determines if someone is invited to a fireteam. Hey I have all the best weapons because I bought them however my gscore is 1000 but I have weapons. Bungie is basically setting us up to fail again. First we couldn't MAKE OUR OWN FIRETEAMS of all Ghorns so the nerfed it. Now they want to remove the next aspect that people look for which is a creditable grimore. Grimore helps determine what kind of gamer we are; Casual, serious, intense or what's a gamer type.

I agree with this but only if score is shared between linked accounts. I'm not max but sitting over 3000 on Xbox One, but still new on PlayStation 4. So when people see my score on psn, I have to explain that I main on Xbox.

People put a lot of work and grinding into game modes they maybe don't love to boost their Grimoire score. It's a bit sad Bungie think so little of this. Please leave it where it is - it's sparked numerous conversations and congratulatory remarks between players in games. A real shame to lose that.
