Are strikes with people AFK a problem and does it need to be adressed by Bungie.

I agree that Bungie needs to deal with inactive players.

Everybody has come across one of these players during a strike, you enter a strike and you start running towards the first objective but you notice that at least one person from your fireteam isn't doing anything. Yeah we're dealing with someone who is AFK and just want to be a leech. Basically people are like to enter a strike, watch tv and enjoy the reqards afterwards when about 15 minutes have passed. Some even take measures to not be disconnected for standing still for to long by holding their thumbstick in an angle so they start walking. I don't mind having one person leave as a new person can join halfway the strike, the thing I'm personally anoyed by are these leeches. Bungie needs to think of something that will deal with these people such as adding a rule that will make that person actively take part in the strike. Rules such as: 1st rule: You need to be inside the boss room at the end within a certain amount of time when 1 or both other fireteam members enter this room or you will be kicked. Basically like adding a 6 minute timer when the first person enters and change it to 3 minutes when the second person enters the room. 2nd rule: You need to do at least x amount of damage in the strike or you won't receive any rewards. (People who enter midgame have to do less amount of damage). Everyone should be able to achieve this certain amount of damage even if they've never gotten a kill in that strike. As a part of the fireteam you need to be doing your part by adsisiting the other two guardians. Some people may say that deaths will decrease the possibility to achieve that score since you're out of the game, but then that means you're not actively taking part in your fire team and merely acting as a lone wolf. It's the risk you take. I hope I get positive reactions and that people agree that Bungie needs to deal with this.

  • I understand everyones struggle and how kick thing woyld be abused but take this into consideration, you start up your tuesday morning early. No friends on so you say why not and jump into matchmaking for weekly heroic and get stuck with a leechers... Damn. So you decide to tough it out, run it thinking, maybe they just needed to grab something real quick so you do it waiting and waiting and about halfway through you get a popup allowing you to kick the person, but this button only comes up after, say not enough damage is being put out in comparison to the whole group rather than a set amount to put out, because honestly just focus only on headshots with a sniper and easily surpass that damage limit. Or maybe you get this button whenever the player hasnt entered the boss room after say 3mins, or even the next are after 4 because maybe like before they actually needed to grab something before they started the strike and took longer than expected? Just something i thought of while reading comments. HazordouS out and don't forget guardians, Become Legend!

  • Yeah, I like the idea, even though I don't do strikes anymore (until TTK). It'll be good for the playerbase in general. It's one thing to have something come up that you have to stop for a bit, but straight up AFKing the whole strike is lazy, even if you're grinding for something lame.

  • When that happens I just sit in the patrol area of the strike farming grim score until they leave It's basically the only counter

  • I was playing dragon strikes and got matched up with 2 other ppl. So for the first game the level 32 got 8 kills & the second game he got 10 kills.

  • Nope. If someone is afk for more than like 90 seconds I leave. If I die and see them camping up top, moving and not shooting, I leave. I don't do dragon strikes for the practice. Soloing a strike isn't worth it for me. Ain't nobody got time for that

  • Hey! Guess what? Remember when everyone was whining about how we should have matchmaking for everything? Well, this is what you get, and it's the reason that some of us didn't and still don't want it for Nightfalls and Raids. "Hey Bungie, we need matchmaking for everything!" (Bungie)- "Probably not a good idea". "Yes it is, your game sucks without it". (Bungie)- "Fine...here you go. Try it out on the weekly heroics". "Blam you Bungie!!! Look at all these AFK assholes!     • Evidently being addressed in TTK. They are instituting the PoE teleport. You get too far behind, POOF, you are with everyone else. Sure cannot see anything bad happening there.... queue the "runners vs shooters debate.

    • In the new game informer article it has been revealed that in the TTK that guardians left behind will now be teleported forward, like in PoE.

    • Apparently they will address it. In the most recent Destiny Article on Game Informer they revealed that in Strikes, AFK'ers will be handled like AFK'ers in the POE, they'll be teleported into the shit so that they are forced to participate.

      • Did a weekly with 2 afk guardians... Spinning! They spin so they don't get disconnected. I killed the Spider Tank and Taniks by myself! While they take all the rewards. They are greedy jerks.

          It is a problem for sure. But how can it be addressed? Bind a rubber band around the controller to move constantly, plug the controller in so it wont turn off and keep an eye out if you die. That's all you need to do to afk without getting kicked. A vote system wouldn't work either, as it would be abused by kicking people just before the strike ends. Your 1st rule will be ruined by people who simply run past everything vs people who kill everything. It'll force all players to rush when even one player does it. And even if there is no rusher, the afk can just walk a bit and afk till you clear the area, then walk along again. 2nd rule could work, but say the 1st and 2nd are both added and you join a strike just as the boss dies (which happens more often than you think), meaning you did 0 damage and are immediately sent to orbit. Goodbye loading time. So far there is no effective way to get rid of them...

        • I have a clan, but I run most of my nightfalls solo. They can jump in if they want, or not. I usually run the weekly strikes with them as to avoid any AFK'ers.

        • Strikes including nightfall can be two manned. If there's a problem with an afk just leave and restart. Won't kill ya to waste 5 mins

          • I'm going to revise these rules: 1. You need to do damage to the boss, 2. Instead of doing a certain amount of damage, you should have to kill like, at least 5 enemies

            The problem I have with this are with those who blow through areas leaving others behind. I've gotten pinned down in a firefight after the others blew on ahead. Why should I be punished because others aren't playing as a team? I would say AFKers are the same as those that leave people behind.

            • Being AFK isnt the proble, more kills for me. Its when they sit back and dont fire single shot or help in any way thats the problem. Long time ago, I ran Valus with a friend and one random. The random sat back the entire time, never helping, not doing crap, and when it was all over they got a legendary ship.
