I'll be totally frank. MMO games are about being smug. Smug because you have stuff that new players wish they had. If every new class of players has access to the best gear, what's the point of being a veteran player? You'd be better off shelving the game for five years and then buying an expansion. I don't want new players saying, "Nice pea-shooter, gramps." I want them saying "Holy shit! Where'd you get THAT gun?!?!?!" So I can say, "It's from before your time, little fella."

This, is the single best response in this thread. I don't want to run around with the same weapons, based off of old but proven archetypes. Give us some exclusivity. Even if the price is very steep. Let us sit around the court of oryx telling the new guys how many times we had to GRIND through VoG to get that fatebringer, or found verdict. After over 100 completions, I have still never shot a Corrective Measure either. We literally had to use all of our free time to get more chances at these epic weapons. Destiny upped their game with the story telling, and I give credit where credit is due. You want us to create legends. Than let us. Maybe, just maybe, even some of the veterans holding fatebringers or found verdicts in a raid 5 years from now can help you with that story telling. I know, if I came across a guy holding an odd, I'd want to know what it was, how he got it, and would definitely be interested in hearing their tale. Honestly, I only see it making the game that much better. Variety is never a bad thing, imo.

Edited by Lord Ookami: 9/29/2015 10:25:02 AM"Holy shit! Where'd you get that?" That was what Bungie wanted players to ask each other. "Holy shit! Where' d you get that?" This? I've had it since before you started playing. "Where can I get one?" You can't. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

Totally

I have the og ghost angel helm. All I want is to keep wearing it for as long as I please. I think all the money throwing at screen warrants that
-
-
I 100% do not want to be involved with destiny of they make guns impossible to get moving forward. F that.
-
-
Agreed. We have gear and guns that can't be obtained anymore.
-
I really think that Year 1 vets should get to ascend their gear. Especially since we have pretty much made the game what it is. Gjallarhorn's nerf? Year 1 players. Atheon's baby bumbers? Year 1. Etheric Light? Year 1, baby.

I agree. I have all the Vanilla New Monarchy gear, and a kid kept asking where I got it. I said proudly "Those who fight alongside New Monarchy and prove themselves as champions who have fought for them from the beginning may earn this gear." He asked how I did that. I said, "Well, you cant get MY gear specifically because you had to of fought for them from the beginning, but there is still a chance to get their other gear." I showed him the HoW NM auto rifle as an example. He asked if I could give it to him. I said not possible. He said "Oh, wait. Thats destiny 2." I said "No." He said, "Yeah it is. Its confirmed in the game informer. Its coming out in Destiny 2." I corrected him that it was called TTK, not Destiny 2, and that there was no tradeing coming with it. The conversation ended quickly after that. My point being I am proud of this gear, and I like creating new loadouts with NM gear with every DLC using both new and old weapons to create the best combination based on the situation. Now Im probably gonna end up with the same gear as this whiney kid who didnt even know how to, (or didnt want to) buy a vendor weapon.

New Monarchy for life. My vanquisher shall always be my best friend.
-
Still got my shadow price
-
Indeed. A shame I cant use it to slay Oryx...
-
Sad but true. At least we can slay other guardians with it still. I didn't put etheric light into mine so it is much more rare since you don't see 300 damage legendaries much anymore.
-
I only recently ascended my vintage Jolder's Hammer. If it has stayed viable in the Iron Banner, I would have left it alone. Alas, My hammer shall strike no more.

Edited by Executor Hideo: 9/4/2015 1:17:48 PMTrue, but I feel like they should replace the ascend with transfuse option on older weapons. Since the gunsmith has no reforging anymore, remove that option when a weapon is transfused. Im looking forward to the new NM legendaries, but would much rather keep my Vanquisher and use the new sniper.
-
Exactly, the tell us to become legend and that they respect our time spent on these guns, but they won't let us become legend with our signature weapons. My vanquisher has field scout, glass half full, and perfect balance, I really don't want to lose it and my Shadow Price.
-
They should at least allow us to ascend our exotics. The new Crest of Alpha Lupi is crap compared to the original.

Edited by Executor Hideo: 9/4/2015 1:24:46 PMMy Vanquisher has rangefinder. So does my Red hand. I was looking forward to laughing at the range nerfs... (Inspect for proof)
-
I have a red hand, that will be in my vault forever. Never even got to level it up either. Has a real dirty roll on it. So badly I wish I could roll up in new content holding that thing. Plus, everytime I look at the old gear that is sentimental to me, it makes me think of when it dropped, and how excited I was. Back then, grinding for legendary engrams, ranking up your faction, was a once a month thing lol. Some of this stuff, I'll never dismantle. If it were up to the new attack standards, they'd still -blam!- the new shiny guns too.
-
I know. I still keep all my old gear on me. New Monarchy gear has... sentimental value.

Nice roll mate, yours will destroy at range and mine will shred in cqc.
