But seriously I would like to have the books set in the Golden Age then leading up to the collapse and just before the present, so many many deaths would make sense

I'd like them dotted around the universe both in time and in persona. I'd love to expand on things like what was going through the mind of the guy corrupted by Thorn and Kabr (to name a couple). I'd also love to see some from the point of view of creatures of darkness. I definitely thing a linear progression of stories would be the wrong way to do it. I also think choosing a single author would be a bad idea; some authors will be better at creating an incredible sense of depth within a world but others will be amazing at getting you into the head of a character.
