I gave up soda about 4 years ago. Now it's just coffee and water for me. Best decision I ever made. If I could also make a suggestion, you don't need a gym membership. Save up your money and purchase a treadmill for the garage. Another great decision I made. 2-3 miles a day combined with reasonable eating (no McDonalds every single day) and a lack of soda will help you lose weight and maintain a fair body.
