To sum it up for you, both of the answers you received are correct. The stand-alone version of TTK is a digital download, which is why you cannot pre-order it at your local retailer. As stated below, you may pre-order it at any time from [url=https://www.destinythegame.com/ca/en/taken-king/wheretobuy]here[/url]. You will not have access to it until the release of the content (September 15, 2015).

I play on 360, and the digital download isn't available for pre-order from the link. Do I have to wait until the release of The Taken King on the 15th to get the digital download? Thus losing all extra content that comes with pre-orders?.
