Am I the only one who understands the weapon tuning?
I honestly don't see what is wrong with the weapon tuning. The only thing I could see being debatable is the ice breaker, but if you are using it the way special weapons are intended to be use, it is not even a problem. It is only a problem if you use it like primary. All other weapons had clear reasons on why they were changed in the patch preview. Also, I don't understand how the community declares that their weapons are no longer special based off dps changes. I must be ignorant or something but I thought special was defined as an object with unique utility rather than being systematically the best weapon in almost any given situation. In fact, doesn't everyone using these weapons ironically devalue how special these weapons are? Say what you want, but at the end of the day, we wouldn't be having this discussion if these weapons were aligned with other exotics.

22 RepliesHere is my issue with the BH, IB and Gally nerfs, they won't change anything about how we play or ability to be successful it will merely take us longer to do the exact same content over and over as that is all this game is. They are artificially extending the time we take to complete activities again, that is all, and it's annoying. Nothing should ever be nerfed for PvE PvP nerfs seem good, though I don't know if they have made the right changes to Thorn, I think there are other ways to have dealt with the DoT as this one could potentially make it worse, and mean a team of Thorn users might be even more prevalent.

22 RepliesThe average gamer is an idiot when it comes to weapon tuning and balancing reasons. They do not ever want their favorite weapon touched for the game will be harder for them. They only want easy mode, no skill, quick, simple game play. And most think that the weapons should work how THEY the player want them too and not how the developers meant for them to work. They think that they decide what is fair or right when that is the furthest thing from the truth, the developers decide what is fair or balanced and how the game was meant to be played. Not the players ever. Players think that just because they paid X amount for the game and played Y amount of hours that they have Z rights to how the game should be, when the fact is no they do not and never did. The average today gamer is a me first entitlement minded instant gratification player that knows very little of what real gaming was like before the advent of online games or patches and hotfix's. They expect the game to be catered to their individual desires and that their views are more important than anyone else so the developer should only listen to them ever about how the game should play/be and how things should work so it is in their favor all the time.

I would prefer all exotics to be brought up a 'tier' acctualy. Give the primaries elements, the specials are not to bad currently, maybe increase the damage if you wanted, and then bring the heavies up to speed with Ghorn. I dont really care what bungie says about exotics only supposing to be 'special' i will always see that as a final weapon tier. Though that of course will skew my opinion on things. :/ Either way i want exotics to be both powerfull and special, with the choice of which one eating your slot up being down to what you are doing. Downing Crota/Atheon fight? Exotic heavies. General Mob slaying/ PvP? Exotic Primaries come out. Got some cool raid weapon/ Perfect reforging on your primaries/ Just want to? Exotic specials time.

I'm just hoping thorn isn't a 3 shot body shot with the stacking DoT, because that means you actually have no reason to aim for the head with the thorn... So what was already a noobcannon will be just as much so.

A good Efrideet's Spear was already better than the Icebreaker for 95% of the game's content. Now the Icebreaker is just horrible.

1 ReplyI understand it... ice breaker is my special because I have no gally... my primary I use either over soul or vision and I have never been kicked for not having gally and I've been able to do everything in the game without it minus skolas cause I really have tried him but once or twice... I have three 34s on PS4 and I am a huge fan of the game.. and as the game changes I will adapt to whatever comes with the change because it's fun...

I hope you all realize and remember the following: Bungie nerf'd Valus and Skolas claiming their data showed we weren't completing those missions for they took too long. The 2.0 nerf premise is that the guns are too effective, kill too quickly and need to be tempered (increase mission duration). Do you see the contradiction clearer now? The nerf is and never was about OP weapons. It was always about buying TTK to restore your inventory of OP guns. The nerf coincides with the TTK release, I think not. It was planned for that release so your guns would immediately be less effective and the TTK guns more attractive. It is and always about your $$$...

I understand it. I even agree with parts of it. But other parts like what they are doing to thorn are stupid (giving it stacking dot dmg) then they are messing with perks that make alot of guns fun to use (white nail) and turning them into bland boring pea shooters. All the HoW guns suck donkey balls and are boring. Taken king better bring somthing special or 10yrs is looking more like 2

I'm going to laugh at the thorn / TLW kids. - TLW sniping me from across the map on combined arms?? really .. !? I have no problem dropping those kids but when you get corned by 3 you take out 2 and the third kills you. - two shotted by thorn? no thanks .. just want to see what they're going to do without'em.

2 RepliesThe reasons Bungivision is weapon tuning is retarded. Want to tune them for PvP, fine. But why change them all around. Weapon tuning is supposed to attempt to equalize fair play. But PvE is us vs AI. So let the weapons be how they are and everyone just GG using them under each situation. I have enjoyed tinkering with each weapon in different situations to see which one is best and no I dont use gally for everything. Just dont get why mess with the weaps. Just to force those who enjoy the awesomeness of some weapons. I use all my weaps but its nice to have that one game changer if needed. Sucks cause what happens if all weapons to blah damage? Game is gonna get boring doing rinse and repeat, rinse repeat rinse repeat.........................

I'm ok with this round of balancing for the most part. I am somewhat disappointed by the Ice Breaker and Black Hammer nerfs. This seems to affect PvE disproportionately. I not doing cartwheels over my G-horn getting nerfed, but I blame the idiots who required one so much in LFG.

they waited too long to nerf these weapons. it took bungie a year to realize they might need to be nerfed? some of us grinded for months to get them, I just got bh, gally and ib within the last 2 weeks and now they are all getting nerfed

8 RepliesPlease explain to me why my harmless icebreaker was nerfed. It didn't hurt anyone. No one ever complained about that weapon. What was the point? Anyone who didn't expect the ghorn nerf either didn't have one or is just in denial. I'm upset with the further fusion rifle nerf even with that improved accuracy bull.
