RECOMENDATIONS & STRATEGIES
Class: I don't recommend any specific class or subclass for the majority of the fight. I suppose Golden Gun would be optimal for trying to find the weak spots, and Ward of Dawn would be a must for the constriction phase. But otherwise it's all the same. I will say blink can be useful for dodging if you're in Apophis' way while he's burrowing. (the reason i'm recommending Gunslinger and Defender is because their use isn't exactly game-changing. GG is for damage, WoD is for protection.)
Stat distribution: Intellect. Discipline isn't exactly recommended since I’m not really seeing grenades being that effective. Strength's value hasn't really changed in this encounter. It still sucks.
WEAPONS
without realizing it, I basically designed the biggest middle finger to the current meta of weapons.
• Primary Weapons rank in usefulness: Auto Rifles>Pulse Rifles>Scout Rifles>Hand Cannons. Hand Cannons and Scout Rifles are not exactly optimum for this fight because Apophis moves too quick for you to get a clear shot at his weak spots. Auto Rifles are best because they are able to deal sustained damage while keeping sight of the weak spot. (This statement relys on the idea of an auto rifle buff, but only by 25%)
• Special Weapons rank in usefulness: Shotguns=Fusion Rifles>Snipers. You do not want to use a sniper at any point in this fight. It would be like using a fusion rifle in its current state. The reason I am stating Shotguns are equal to (but might be a smidge better) Fusion Rifles is that while Shotguns are able to do instant power damage, Fusion Rifles work better for anticipating the weak spots in advance.
• Heavy Weapons rank in usefulness: Machine Gun>>>>>>Rocket Launchers. Rocket Launchers are absolutely worthless in this fight. The weak spots only break from precision damage, and the boss becomes immune after 1/6th of its health is lost. THIS BOSS CANNOT BE GHORNED. Machine Guns are far better due to the enormous amount of sustained damage.
STRATEGIES
• There isn't a certain strategy per say. There is no individual person with a specific task or groups that split up to complete different task. Everybody has the same objective and everybody is doing the same thing.
MY THOUGHTS
I designed this encounter to be extremely fast paced and deverse, without forcing any player to take a certain roll. The reason I chose not to put adds in the fight was that I didn't feel like there needed to be. Apophis is enough of a challenge that every single person in the fireteam is occupied, I wanted this whole fight to be all about the boss himself.
Inspirations:
• Greek myth of the birth of Apollo and Artemis.
• Egyptian Mythology (representation of chaos)
• Jake from the movie Rango with Johnny Depp.
• The Great Devourer from Lego Ninjago.
Alright so now that i've explained everything, give me feedback. Tell me what you think, anything I might have missed, any questions you have, how you think it could be cheesed, etc. I want your feedback.
TL;DR
This is an incredibly in depth explanation of a Raid Boss I have designed, if you want to understand what it is about, you will have to read the whole thing.

Bump!

Why has Bungie not hired you yet?

Over all... I would have hell fighting this boss! But this design is very good, creative and defiantly breaks from the norm. In regards to the Hard mode and Easy mode, when he comes back up, have the controller of whoever is close to it spazz out and the ground have a sort of easy to see particle effect. For the final phase, what would be cool is if he would coil around your team and drag them to the middle (or have them forced to teleport there) then spit the acid and proceed to surround you. Regarding to how large the boss is (and assuming all his weak points are three per side) it would be cool if his body would rotate every once and a while just in case the team gets stuck and that would allow the final weak spot to be seen (but increase the rate of rotation so they can only see it at a glance) Other than that, great idea. I help a buddy of mine design exotics on his forum but you make me want to try a hand at raid bosses.

Bump for forming this raid.

Are the people at Bungie taking notes right now? Because they should be. Really cool design.
-
So I should use my pest control, judgement, and thunderlord
-
Why copy Egyptian mythology (Most likely Rick Riordan's Egyptian line.) for the name? Why not be more creative?
-
yes yes this shall be bumped yes
-
-
OHHHHHHH yes
-
Instead of Ninjago, you can just say it's from Norse Myths, because there is a large serpent that devours itself and anything in its path. Same name I believe.

Lego Ninjago?
kek
A full auto scout would be nice though(vision

Somebody hire this guy

I think this is an absolutely fantastic start, have you given any thought to any sort of relic mechanic?

A bump here

this, along with your PVP map, sounds really cool. might need a bit more ammo to drop though, a team of players with bad aim may drain everything they have before breaking a weak spot. also, if the week spots can only be taken out by critical damage fusions are also taken out of the equation as they can't crit. thirdly, sidearms might actually be really good here as they allow a level of spray and pray no other special has.
