I feed my dog, I house him, I take him outside to play in the fields, I beat him if he does something wrong, and I put up wanted posters if he runs away...Not slavery...

the purpose of slavery is to provide a good or service upon the master's demand, against the will of the enslaved. animals are sentient, but not sapient. those without sapience do not truly have free will, so having a pet does not violate the will of the animal.

Pets aren't human.

It is in a way. However, our culture condones owning pets and doesn't call it slavery but instead, calls it love. But again, humans are more important and I could care less...

Well as for cats.... 1. I dont even own them, they are free to leave the house anytime they want, if anything cats own their humans. 2. I'm just a means to get an easy meal and some cuddles, who would leave that? 3. I treat them like family and love them unconditionally. 4. They don't work for me, they aren't guards or warning animals, they are simply there because we both like the arrangement. As for dogs. 1. We do use ours as guards and warning sirens. 2. They aren't allowed to leave, they are fenced in. 3. We still love them and treat them great, but my dogs sort of are our slaves in a way. So cats no, dogs yes. Unless you have rez dogs then they are just free to do as they wish, with the other rez dogs.
