Game companies don't make games because they love you and want you to have nice things. They make them to get rich off your expendable income. They will always be testing the boundaries of investment/return. The fewer dollars they need to spend up front, the more goes into their bank accounts when you pay for it.
There is a simple way to fix this problem. Don't buy the games that you feel aren't worth the money.
No amount of "love" for a game company will make them love you back. The people you meet at conventions and the people giving interviews are hardworking people like you and me who love doing what they do, but they must follow instructions. They get paid a minimal market price for their skills and have huge demands put on them to maximize productivity and minimize risk. They will always be on your side, but they can't say it, because they don't make the decisions.
If this type of game design leads to a lesser return on investment, the decisions will change in favor of the consumer/gamer. But that means you have to actually stop paying/playing... now. Not later, now.
If you want proof, look no further than Blizzard post-Cataclysm. Activision was disappointed with the amount of money Blizzard spent on Cataclysm for the amount it was getting in return. It is "bad business." Ever since Cata, WoW expansions have been minimalistic and built on repetitive garbage gameplay. Go ask someone playing WoW how they like sending their followers on missions every day.
Games used to be on par with movies. You watch the trailer, you like what you see, you buy it and have a blast for a limited time.
Ever since gaming went "online" and game content could be added over time, the gaming experience has started changing. Instead of expansion packs being like sequels to a movie, they turned into minor "updates" to existing content.
Imagine watching the same damn movie for ten years. TEN YEARS. Every few months they release a new scene, but 70-90% of the movie remains unchanged. Would you pay for that?
Then why would you pay for the game that does the same thing?
_____
Personally, I like Destiny. But when the content does not justify the price, I will dump it just like I did WoW. So far, I am satisfied with the content, but I have a higher pain threshold than most.
