The Crucible has been ruined.

FOR CLARITY: This is not so much a discussion of how Thorn, The Last Word, Matador and Party Crasher +1 need to be nerfed, but more a discussion about the fact that Bungie themselves said that if a set weapon or combo was the norm for PvP, that they have failed to provide a balanced and competitive PvP experience. Taking a look at the statistics (and the fact that there are multiple Thorns in every bloody match I ever play) proves that there is a lot of work that needs to be done. Ideally, it needs to be done now, so that we can enjoy the last few weeks of Year One before The Taken King comes out and we have new, unbalanced gear to worry about. And yes I bolded the entire section so that you muppets claiming "crybaby" will at least read SOME of this post before you make fools of yourselves. Original post as follows: Bungie, you said it yourselves. The day the Crucible is filled with players using a single combination is the day you know you have failed to live up to your promises. Gone are the days of close competition where people would swap their weapons out based on maps. Bungie, you claim to pay attention to your game's statistics, and this was proven when the auto rifle and Mythoclast nerfs came into play. And yet, for months now, the Crucible has been dominated by two weapons. We all know which exotic hand cannons I'm referring to. Thorn, which can out snipe a sniper rifle, leaving players sat behind cover as the hilariously long burn effect picks at our health; and The Last Word, which tears you apart no matter the range, its ridiculous range capable of winning a fight with a scout rifle across the map. To make matters worse, shotguns also received a buff, and following the release of the Matador 64 and the Party Crasher +1, they're all that I've seen every single game. That and Felwinters. So at what point do you admit your failures? When the community cried afoul of the Mythoclast, the resulting fix was swift and painful to Vex owners. After all, owning the Mythoclast was proof that you had felled Atheon himself with the difficulty ramped up to eleven. But when a hand cannon that is sold openly by Xur, or gained as a random drop from bosses or Crucible matches - or a hand cannon with a crazily easy exotic bounty - are those mostly used by the so-called called "competitive" crowd, a fix is nowhere to be seen. Instead, you claim that exotics and all other gear will become obsolete as new items are introduced. Are you sure that will be the case? Are you planning on tempting Thorn owners with an even more ridiculous weapons, or are you confident that there will be sufficient means to nullify existing weapons? And if any of you say "if you don't like it don't play it" or "use the weapons yourself", then you're part of the problem. Me using the weapon to counter them just adds more of the same to the mix. Soon, everyone would end up using the same few weapons, and that would be that. A failure. So I put this to you, Bungie. Are you aware of the Thorn and Last Word issues? Are you aware that these weapons are what the majority of people use in PvP (that's a link worth clicking, by the way)? Have you looked at the shitfest your PvP had become? How do you plan on making sure this doesn't happen again? Because truthfully, until you can prove to me that you're taking note of this and planning a suitable fix, the next chapter of Destiny will be several players emptier. Note: Thanks to H631 Nicocaine for the link to the Reddit study. NOTEWORTHY EDIT: In all fairness, I read the last few weekly updates after I posted this thread, so I've seen that Bungie are in fact planning on outlining how weapons will be rebalanced in the future. That means they are doing something, just that we'll likely have to wait until The Taken King to see it put into practice. Here's hoping that this experience with exotic hand cannons and a small niche of shotguns is a one-off. NOTEWORTHY EDIT PART TWO: Moved the clarity section to the top so you sheeple crying "crybaby" will hopefully be able to comprehend the purpose of this thread.
