Why do people watch streams?
Serious question, no hate intended.
Why watch someone else play a game live, that you can play yourself? I mean the game takes up enough time what with raids, bounties, poe, trials, daily stuff, and then you need a life right? Like eating, bathing, exercise etc?

I like watching live streams from people who don't take it too seriously. Like the Achievment hunter lets play Trials run is great because they are not prepared at all for the brutal beating.

People watch live streams to get an idea on how thing operate with something they haven't done, like Crota's End or Vault of Glass

I don't watch streams of people playing PvP but I will watch a little bit of a game I'm interested in to see if I think it's worth buying.

I see a lot of people comparing it to watching people play sports, but it's not - it's like watching somebody watch sports. I don't get it. I've tried. I watched a few, but the entire setup is janky as hell. Some greasy introvert sitting in a man-child's fort, caressing his KDR, camera on his deadpan mug the whole time, while his face contorts itself with each significant pulse of thought and he makes awkward jokes. It's a kids' thing.

I watch while I'm at work. It's mostly to just have something on in the background. I could just as easily listen to the radio or stream a podcast or something like that.

Comedy. I watch the ones I find funny. Or informative, but that's more YouTube videos. Wyza for madden ultimate team is pretty damn helpful and his commentaries are funny. I usually have it up on my laptop while I play

I watch good Destiny PvP players to find ways I can improve my gameplay. My own Titan play in PvP greatly improved after watching the streams of i104997i and AEGabriel. I never knew you could move like that in a Titan. I'm no where as good with movement as those 2, AEGabriel is unreal, but it definitely made me better because alone I would have never tried some of the things I see them do.

I watch trials and get awestruck at the guys who run flawless. I suck at ToO :-( Inspires me, helps me learn.

I like watching steams when trials comes around, if I havent played the map a lot, to get a feel what players are doing and whats a better way then watching someone who literally plays the game all day long and knows all the ins and outs of each map? Also I enjoy watching some just because sure I can play the game but idk about you or anyone else but getting beat 5-0 in a trials run a few times in a few makes me want to not play watching others have fun and get good gear kinda cheers me up. Just a few reasons I watch. Also some do streams for charity so thats something I like to help support.

It's like tv but for something you understand on another level because you also do it. You might want to watch to decide on getting the game, you might think they're really funny, or good at the game and it could help you learn. Maybe you don't wanna play or can't play at the moment and wanna chill and watch someone else play while you handle business.

I don't really understand watching Destiny streams at all. Makes no sense to me unless you're trying to learn something like Raid strategies. I do like watching fighting game streams i.e. MKX, Street Fighter, Tekken etc. Those competitions are intense and it takes actual skill to compete at high levels.
