Why is no one talking about this?
From my understanding, it has been confirmed that all the gear that we have worked so hard to obtain and level will become useless in the taken king expansion. Your armor and weapons will be unable to reach the new light level.
I'm sorry but did I miss something here? They JUST fixed the problem of us not being able to use our favorite weapons and now they're reintroducing the problem? I thought maybe they learned a few things but apparently not
Since a lot of you are coming up with the same idiotic response I give you this statement: maybe they should make gear worth using so that the fatebringer or g horn isn't such an obvious choice. It's something called build variety an playstyle preference
I guess a lot of you want to go back to being clones of everyone else smh
This guy explains vertical versus horizontal progression. Now keep in mind, that most games that implement horizontal progression have a slight mix of vertical, that is you reach the set level cap:

1 ReplyWe had a similar discussion pre dark below DLC about not being able to ascend VoG gear that we struggled to get. A LOT of players left because they thought it was BS. Those that stayed were disappointed not once, but twice. Same thing is going to happen, the reason we don't discuss it is because the forums went through this issue already. Essentially it was accept it or leave.

1 ReplyBecause now that we can ascend our loot... There's no reason to be excited about getting a weapon from poe with one useful perk on it. Or any armor from the vendors/trials/poe. All people need to do now is get there lvl34 characters, run vog or crota, get the weapons and ascend. Your going into old content because there's nothing great in the new content. Ascending weapons and armor shouldn't exist. Cant wait to finally be excited for new gear in the taken king.

I agree with you, it doesn't make any sense to introduce a way to once again glorify older weapons then take it away. If you want us to use different weapons then outdo your own design and imgination. I don't uderstand the point in "taking my guardian with me" if I don't get to use weapons and armor that I want (takingalking about destiny 2). I think they have no idea of the future of this game tbh. With ttk you won't be able to bring weapons up to current lvl. Then 3 months later realize the mistake and sell the fix for another 40 bucks

I don't care if there is new armor and weapons, but if it becomes a game where every person of the same class looks the identical to another gear wise I am done.

11 RepliesCurrent gear perks will still be viable in the regular crucible. Other than that it is in the nature of expansions to make old gear useless. HoW etheric light made the pursuit of new gear meaningless.

2 RepliesI want to know if I don't buy Taken King will that stop me doing weekly and nightfall. What about vanguard weapons and armour will they all be the new dlc Vanguard gear so I can't wear them if I choose not to get the Taken King? Bungie never answers anymore. All they ever do is look at stats and make new products. Even DeeJ quit Forums as he is never here anymore is he.

I almost don't care, as long as I get to keep some of my most prized weapons in a vault with me as well as some armor that tells my tale, then I'm fine. Sure it may be a grind for the new stuff, but I feel that it's all worthwhile. I've always been in want of new stuff anyways, and I feel that I'll be satisfied when TTK comes out

They should make old armor relevant but keep weapons in the past with the new expansion. Etheric light was just a way to please the community, nothing else. Bringing god-weapons back into the game leaves no room for new weapons that we dont yet have.

13 RepliesTHIS is why the E light was a bad idea the plan was that no weapon or armor besides exotics would be taken to a higher lv but they put in the E light stuff to make everyone happy but NOW the play will back fire and from now until forever everyone will want to keep upgrading armor and weapons it was only to please the masses

3 RepliesYour understanding? Link or its unconfirmed They will probably do the same thing with TTK that they did with POE. Some type of reward to upgrade your armor and also give new armor specific to the raid. This game needs an auction house bad. They want to make it casual friendly but the way it's going it's not gonna last.

Totally a good idea. Sarcasm. That doesn't fix the issue. it just continues it. Because why would we use anything else when we use "weapon x?" Bungie has already introduced plenty of good perks (and some more coming in ttk) on weapons that have stats comparable to our favorite weapons. To plainly put it the current weapons are not the issue. it's the crutch perks. Perks should be based on preference. Not absolutely have to have.

Ehhh.....they gotta make new gear relevant someway. As long as the gear is actually good (perks and stats) and not just attack level, I'm fine. Though i don't think exotics will become obsolete. Most like just legendary gear.

5 RepliesWhy go for the Six Dreg Pride when you could just ascend fatebringer, or why use the Wolves' leash when you could ascend VoC? A combination of crappy HoW weapons and ascension make me not excited to get gear anymore. I've stopped playing PoE entirely, and the only reason I still play is to get a Gjallarhorn. Since you cannot make better weapons then many VoG and a couple CE weapons, without the weapons being overpowered, at some point our gear will have to be obsolete and we need to move on to new gear. Heck, I'm sure nobody can see themselves using Fatebringer, Black Hammer and Gjallarhorn in 4 years.
