Some games stick to the same formula, and are good games. Others try something new and also succeed. Then there are game that do the same types of things and fail miserably. Original =/= good.
If Destiny were a better game a lot of people (myself included) would be lining up to throw money at it. The problem is that it fell sort of even the most basic expectations that most games are able to live up to.

I completely disagree. I can name quite a few games that deliver less and are much more popular. Basic game expectations =/= a good game.

Edited by Musashi Orboro3: 7/4/2015 6:36:37 PMI wasn't talking about how much content games deliver. I was referring to the way games are put together.Whether commonly used, or new and unproven, the combination of gameplay elements determines whether a game is good or bad; favored by the majority or hated by the majority: The game's formula. No matter how much content Destiny offers, its formula (poverty-stricken RNG, restrictive progression, fragmented narrative) is inherently bad. Basic expectations being met certainly does not equal a good game, but it does have an effect on how the game is received.
