I have bought DArk BElow, House of Wolves and of course vanilla DEstiny and have been satisfied and dissatisfied at the same time. Whilst the vanilla Destiny was a good buy until it was not, it had a crap story. Nothing made sense. I kept doing patrols but I don't see what territories I have gained. I don't unlock new section of the earth as an example (a form of misselling as the world was supposed to be all access based on what was marketed on point of sell) and my enemies never seem to retreat from their positions. We all keep respawning Guardians and enemies alike. Which kept me asking what is the actual purpose of the Guardian because he isn't achieving anything as far as reaching a game worthy narrative is concerned.
Then in the Dark Below, I like the story. But I wasn't sure were it fitted with the Vanilla Destiny. Apart from destiny gun economy which had got me obsessed with upgrading weapons I fancied, I was simply playing the game for that: to upgrade guns and hope that I get some good loot. Now I have the best loot and there is no story to use my loot in, it feels very much pointless to endlessly play Destiny as I don't feel I am achieving anything.
If I am a guardian why can't I visit the city I am protecting or meet it's people? (The civilians living in the Tower's city). Why can't I explore non combat social spaces and perhaps see the reason why I am fighting so hard to protect a city I have never seen its inhabitants for myself?
$40 is a lot of money to ask from anyone. You say there will be story missions in the Taken King: how many will there be? You say there will be strikes, again how many strikes? Considering I have already spent a lot of money on this game: anything less than 20 story missions will not be satisfactory; anything less than 7 strikes as well will be day light robbery. And quest are crap. They are not stories. You already gave us samples of these in the Petra Venj bounties. Their lack of narrative or cinematic feel just makes them dull dull dull!
When I got the house of wolves I was told through bungie media marketing that This expansion had a Raid. I bought the game with the understanding I was buying 3 raids and only have 2. You were happy to take my money but not even an apology for the mis-selling of your products. Whilst I weigh up my options between continuing with the destiny universe or investing my money in Halo, if such expectations, my levels of dissatisfaction, isn't addressed: I will choose to make my own fate and leave destiny game play altogether beyond the current expansions I have already purchased.
And just to piss your customers off you charge $40 to US players whilst us in the UK you charge £40? Which planet do you come from does that currency conversion make sense?
