Eh, I think it's all overhyped. The guy is a high-energy game developer who's excited about his art. I bet what came across as douchery in text form was actually just childlike excitement. I think he doesn't even have anything to do with the pricing & packages. He's just a designer. That stuff is in the hands of the producer. His responses were very immature and unrefined, for sure. The guy had no business giving an interview, and the blame should really be on Bungie PR for allowing this guy out of the dank programmers bullpen in the first place. Shackle that programming monkey to his iMac and don't let him see the light of day again until he's increased the size of the vault.

  • You're absolutely correct; Luke Smith spoke his mind. He seems to be an excitable sort of lad and was probably amped up from the hype of E3. He can't wait to show off what he's helped create. But again, I agree that he clearly doesn't have the polish of a PR rep. He shouldn't be placed in a position to be a "voice" of the company. His crude remarks don't represent Bungie. To lynch the company over one employee's crass remarks is an overreaction. Likewise, to deny that any company exists to make money is naive. Collector's Editions are not new. And they're not targeted at the majority of the player base. A very small percentage of a game's community will find value in spending extra money for trinkets or in-game extras. But why should that stop Bungie from creating something exclusive and expensive that a few players are willing to buy? Just because you and I don't want to spend extra money on a new dance move doesn't mean someone else shouldn't have the opportunity to do so.

  • Tyrants? I feel like I have gotten a pretty good deal out of the money I have spent with Bungie so far. Lets compare hours played to dollars spent...ready go!
