Where does it say they want to take it back? Never once have I seen this I've seen take from us but that could be to stop it from bringing the darkness

Your theory has no proof! In game events contradict it. If they were trying to save us why do they keep shooting us. And it's pretty well know the fallen had the traveler first and want it back, at least since the house of wolves. As far as they are concerned we stole their God.
