Thorn is overused in the crucible
I don't care if it's OP or not, it's killing weapon variation. I get tired of going into games and seeing 8/12 players using it. If any weapon is that overused there has to be something that makes it more appealing than other weapons.
Anyone with me on this?

This is why I'm taking a break from destiny currently I love competitive multiplayers, though its hard to enjoy certain ones after a while when things are noticeably unbalanced and repetitive. Once I was done with the first 4 weeks of trials I stopped playing. I'm waiting for a weapon rebalancing then Ill pick it up again.

28 RepliesThe extreme communists of the community has spoken again. Your idea of a balanced PvP game mode is that every weapon, from white to yellow, should be equally balanced. I dont see the issue of alot of guardians using Thorn. It's a great weapon for PvP. You don't come here whining about the Gjallarhorn being over used in PvE? Because it doesn't kill you in PvE. But guess what, this is a competetive game. If you see weapons like Thorn, Hawkmoon, Red Death, Vex Mythoclast, Felwinters Lie etc. go get them! Earn yours and compete with it! That is what good exotics are all about. It doesn't put new players away from Destiny. It triggers them to get a hold of that awesome exotic. Bungie will make more weapons like the ones I mentioned above. So instead of crying on the community you should earn yours! If you wait for dev. team to equally balance every gun in this game, you might aswell quit.

I agree. When you enter a match and at least 80% of ppl are using thorn it should send a very clear message to bungie that the gun is way overpowered. Where is the diversity? It takes the fun out of the game.

Well...when the game started everyone complained about autorifles, then the vex, then shotguns, red death and so on. Someones always got a complaint about a weapon somewhere. And they keep getting nerfed i to obscurity. They even become useless in PvP. Here is a sure fire tactic to make sure you don't have to deal with this anymore..."don't be on the receiving end of the weapon"...

1 ReplyInstead of nerfing thorn? Buff all exotics to the point they are equal. Exotics SHOULD be a bit better than legendaries. But not OP to the point that that's all you see.

I'm with you. I've gone back to Halo multiplayer because of this, and I'm loving every minute of the equal starts. I have thorn and a god role on a shotgun in destiny, and I've gone to the lighthouse many a time, so don't anyone come at me with "git gud kid. " I'm not the problem, the unbalanced nature of the crucible is. In four months, Halo 5: Warzone is where you'll find me.

1 ReplyVery true the only thing they need to fix is its fire rate and impact. If your going to have high impact and high rate of fire then don't make Dot Something that can kill you just something that can suppress health regeneration

Honestly if bungie has to they will make it that there is a fixed impact damage in pvp or the amount the impact a gun has will affect its damage even if its gun class is different eg. If a auto rifle has a impact value of 50 and so does thorn then both guns will do the same amount of damage. Or they make it so in crucible all exotic perks are disabled

5 RepliesI hate the last word more because there is no apparent explanation for how it does so much damage. I mean thorn has the DoT so I understand its power, but Last Word is just a normal looking HC. How is it so freaking strong?!

Well really I don't think they should mess with it too much I mean nerf wise. It awards the player for getting it. I do agree that it would be nice if they perhaps made a game mode where shotguns and other over used weapons were not allowed so the people would have to use real skill, but I guess it's all part of the game so ya.
