I was lucky I grabbed abox and a electronic battle ship game fell on my game board lucky for me It only broke 3 kroot of my tau army.
Posted by: Socialist I got into it pretty much as the Tau were coming out, so they just seemed an interesting army to get. Did think of the Tyranids though.
Ditto. I just painted the models though, never played the game. A friend of mine has Dawn of War. Its okay.

Yea I game up on warhammer once I realized it was cutting into my game money the people at games workshop are price whores anyone who things 40$ for little plastic models are nuts. seriously box of firewarriors or nearly a new game?
-
True most people dont realize this and thats why they always bad mouth the eldar.

Ah the space marines, the most forgiving army of the lot. Played a game very recently against one of my friends imperial guard armies (he has about 3 and plans for at least 2 more). Two squads of tatical marines reduced roughly 40 men to 2, though they did only have 2 left between them at the end. That slaughter of his troops meant at the end of the game he only had one command squad left that actually was above half strength. I lost 23 marines in total if I rember correctly. Though the Marines are a bit bland, and so when the tau are finished I intend to use them a lot more. Though that has to wait until I have finished my Late war German WW2 army.
Posted by: Kurt50
Posted by: ObbiQuiet I always preferred Eldar.
I love the mob, use the slugga boyz to distract then flank with the nobz. To use the eldar properly you have to be a skilled player. They cant really go head to head with the other races.
Precisely. The Eldar are a specialist race. To do well things need to go according to plan, since each unit's effectiveness is extremely rigid. To do well with them relies largely on the experiance and intelligence of the user since being surprised as Eldar is a good way to be beaten.

Havent played it DoW myself, but I do like 40k. Collect Marines and Tau. Luckily though, I am not a complete addict, and so still have some cash, unlike my friend who needs to go to plastic figure rehab.

The story line wasn't that great, anyway. Chaos is like a replica of the Space Marines. Tyranids kind of take after the orcs with the "mob mentality," though I think with some clever playstyle engineering they could become unique by focusing on "efficiency."
Posted by: ObbiQuiet Dawn of War is tons of fun. I used to play WH:40k, and to see these races come alive puts a smile on my face. I only wish, though, that instead of the Chaos they had the Tyranids.
I'm best with the boyz, and I agree Tyranids should of been on the game. But chaos is basically the whole story line so.
