[BUNGIE] Reporting Cheaters

Guardians, When you encounter an opponent in the Crucible who is cheating, we want to know all about it. There are teams at Bungie devoted to investigating and taking action against cheaters. The safest and fastest way to get our attention is to use the tools we have provided in the game. Inspect the offending players and issue a Report. Detailed instructions can be found here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12960 Please know that cheating does not include tactical decisions like camping or using really good weapons. We're looking for people who exploit the game or the networks you use to play it. We would like to request that you do not start discussion topics on this forum (or on other forums) to implicate individuals in acts of cheating. This has resulted in harassment of the accused. We don't want that. We'd rather investigate these matters in private, where justice can be swift. Forum threads that accuse individuals of cheating will be removed. Thank you for your attention. We are committed to protecting the landscape of the game from cheaters. Play nice!

I hope the pvp shadowshot exploiters are banned. Show that it is not tolerated so that when the when next exploit comes up people will know not to do it, because there will be a next time. The people are abusing it in Iron Banner because they believe they will suffer no consequences for their actions.

    • Yes please at least Temp Ban these Shadow Shot cheaters. They all think that nothing will be done. Fight back and prove them wrong.

Just played a few matches on Vertigo in the Iron banner playlist when I noticed two players outside the map confines. On spawn point C looking towards to Cabal landing area two players were above the map and not able to be killed. They were able to sit up there and snipe people from across the map without being able to be seen. Only caught one of them as a hammer came flying down from the sky and missed so I looked up. I saved a DVR of one player who was above the map. Is this a known bug/glitch on the Vertigo map, if so it needs to be fixed ASAP as it completely ruins that map as a viable PVP selection. I'm not sure if they are able to transverse around the map once up there but I would assume so. Any info on this is much appreciated

    • This Warlock I was playing against today had a red bar while EVERYONE else's bar was green. He would use his storm subclass special and kill everyone (wasn't even moving either) at a capture zone from behind a wall (Capture zone B on the Tower map) and would not take damage when I went up to kill him, it seemed as if nothing registered. He got a 7k score while his teammates averaged 2-3k and at the end of the match I saw his bar turn green.

i didnt have time to report in game, but obviously this guy was trying to do the shadowshot glitch, i have proof via link, his/her gamertag is [redacted], i hope something is done. thank you and best game ever, bungie.
Moderator edit: Videos removed. Please do not post the gamertags of players you believe are cheating on the Bungie.net forums. Forum moderators will view this as a form of harassment under the website's Code of Conduct. Instead, the Destiny in-game report feature is the most efficient, and the absolute best method, of sending reports to Bungie for review. Thanks! [BUNGIE] Reporting Cheaters
• Any way I can report someone directly? I encountered a player using some kind of glitch to get infinite shadow shots. The evidence is recorded in my Xbox captures.

[REDACTED] and [REDACTED] both did it. I have recorded the video. They were losing the match before they got their supers and then shadows hot the entire field just to win. If those reports and the investigation bear fruit, the cheaters will be dealt with. But things like making a vid, creating a topic, and/or naming them here serves no purpose and has no benefit. the gamertags: [REDACTED], [REDACTED], [REDACTED], and [REDACTED] were all exploiting a glitch to keep getting their nightstalker bow in iron banner. Please ban them especially since they are doing it in a competitive game mode. • DeeJ, Today I had an encounter with a lag switcher. I took several "upload" videos of the gamer. I reported him. I'm addition to the report I messaged the gamer informing him that he had been reported for his actions. He proceeded to reply with several messages telling me that he was in fact a switcher, admitted to it all in a Xbox message. If your team needs any screenshots or hard versions of the videos, I will be more than happy to provide. Respectfully, LLLSUMNERLLL

            • This is absolute bull, and irresponsible on your part, Bungie. I have been reporting cheaters for months, and I recently came across an individual in your heroic strikes that was cheating horrendously. Lagswitching like crazy, and there is nothing I can do about it. I even wrote down their username to perform a direct report. I want to perform a direct report of this person, so that you can actually do something about this problem with much more direct information. Again, I have their user ID archived for this purpose, and I have drafted a formal summation of my grievance toward this player.

I reported tons of lag switchers as cheaters in the last 2 ironbanners. So i reported a lot of players with bad connection too. But what happened? Or what Bungie doing with that reports? I dont know, but i think they ignore it, this reporting is only for the players feeling i can do something against that cheating. But in real nothing happend with them, thats why it getting more and more of that lag switchers. 2 months later i see the same cheaters again and again in ironbanner. The Matchmaking mixing the same lag connections into the fair playing green connections players. For what i report them? They cheat only because Bungie let them cheat. To much lag means dead, better solution than any banhammer, then using lag switch makes you definatly not flawless. But Bungie needs to implement that into the code and not make them unbeatable while they lagging.

Thanks, I think the cheaters are fewer this IB than in the past but it is still occurring at an unacceptable rate. Seriously Bungie needs dedicated PvP servers and connections. Code needs to be written that monitors for bad connections and immediate flagging for review. Us guardians do appreciate Bungie acknowledging the cheating issue. Action/results speak louder than words.

I experienced blatant cheating in trials last night. This wasn't your typical laggy cheats but obvious hackers. They stood on the capture zone and wouldn't take damage - they could damage us though. We couldn't pick up ammo or even contest the zone. We finished that passage 9-1 so these cheaters cost us the experience of going to the lighthouse. I've been before but one of our team hasn't. This was by far the worst gaming experience I've ever had. I reported in the proper way and have video evidence if needed. This is disgraceful. Are you going to be banning these types of cheaters again? They need to be locked out of Destiny, not just PvP. Perma bans also need to be issued. Banning before TTK drops would send out the right message to your loyal fan base. Cleanse the community for the newbies and those that just want to get on with enjoying the game. So what matters more: profits or protecting your community? Edit 1: video link added. No apologies for this or my language! :) Let's see how long this lasts...
Ninja Edit
I've taken the liberty of removing the video of the person(s) who you stated were cheating. While forum posts and videos SEEM like a great way to help with cheaters.... other than raising awareness, they don't do much to help get rid of them. Mostly due to the fact that a video is what a player saw on their console, which (sadly) isn't always a complete picture of what happened in the game and on the network (one console in a MP match is not the full story). A forum post and/or a video will NOT get anyone banned from the game. Ever. The people who investigate cheating, exploits and network shenanigans aren't cruising the forums, they won't see the thread/vid, and it's not how they collect their data.
