My advice: get a VPN (hides your IP address), or make a hotspot with a phone or tablet and it'll be impossible for them to boot you offline unless they somehow took down your entire cellphone provider's network (99.9999% chance they aren't capable of that).

Just had a game with a full fireteam of people that had previously achieved "flawless" status. Got them to 4-4, and at the end of the last match, we had two of their players down to our one... Then, all of a sudden, the last man standing eats 3 shots from Felwinters Lie, my partner supers him, and then be proceeds to kill us both. Score comes up, and all six people in the game are suddenly red barred. This is after all of our connections had been green for the prior 8 rounds... That did it for me. No more of this shit. As long as these jackasses are "protecting the lighthouse" by cheating, I'll find other games to play. There is simply too many sorry ass cheating douchebags filling up PVP to tie gaining the best weapons in the game to it. I'm disgusted right now. If it had been the first time I had seen something similar today, it would be one thing, but we've lost at least 4 matches today after going up 3-0 or 4-0, only to find ourselves unable to kill our opponents for the duration of the game.

Can people please stop labelling this as lagswitching? It's not. Lagswitching won't disconnect anyone. In fact it's the least common form of cheating, personally I've never encountered it as opposed to hundreds of DDoS attacks and a few dozen cases of standbying. It's called a DDoS attack. Crucible is P2P so you can sniff everyone's IP address using a packet sniffer. You then flood those IP addresses with a DDoS attack which sends so much useless data to that IP address it is forced to shut down and disconnect you from the game and most likely from the internet entirely depending on your internet and the strength of the booter. You can buy DDoS services online for as little as $5/month. All you do is paste the target's IP address in the target box, select an attack type, time and press send attack. Most booters offer a standard time of 300 seconds attack time and a maximum of 1 concurrent attack. Depending on the service you can get up to 7200 or more seconds of attack time and up to 3 or 4 concurrent attacks. These usually cost around $20/month or $50+ lifetime packages. In other words pretty much anyone can get their hands on a DDoS service. When sniffing it should only show you all the IP addresses currently connected to you. When someone launches a DDoS attack on you, your packet sniffer will detect dozens of IP addresses suddenly appearing all spamming incoming data. Most cheaters will usually target your xbox port because it's easier and faster to disconnect from. This way you'll only be disconnected from xbox live. If your entire network goes down they targeted your main ethernet port. All of this can be solved by changing your IP address. Ofcourse if you match the cheaters again they will just sniff your new IP address and do it again. Eventually they will get what's coming to them, especially if they do it often. Halo 3 had a relatively good system in the latter half of its lifespan. Known cheaters were often permbanned and while they always just made new account, it showed that the system was working and banning their accounts consistently. On halo 3 you could just get another 50 within 24 hours but with Destiny there's a lot more to lose (guns, armor, progress) so when they inevitably get banned it'll be a much bigger slap in the face. The reason I know all this is because I have played thousands of matches at the highest rank on Halo 3. DDoS attacks were extremely common and happened almost daily. I have a static IP and at times was held offline for 12 hours by botnets. It was pretty much a requirement to have one or more DDoS services in order to protect myself.

Had a group invite me for trials when I had a 4-0 card and then fed the enemy kills just to make me lose it. Then they (a party of 6) proceed to use all sorts of vulgar language and sexual references to express how happy they were with themselves on ruining my trials experience. Oh so that is why i won a couple of games?, they tried to lag switch but messed up?. on two occasions yesterday, i found a match and i was getting ready to check their gear, only to see that we don't have any opponents?. it puts you in the loading screen, only my guardian and my friends their guardians spawned to show off (you know the screen where you see your team and their team facing each other). but we only saw our team, then we instantly won.. does that mean the other team tried to lag switch and messed up it and disconnected so we got the win or what?.

They are pulling your ip when you connect and kicking you with a quick attack. Easily done unfortunately but as they always have 0-0 then it is easy to tell something is up.I had a guy last night that took two preadyths revenge shots, 107 damage a piece, and still had health. Was a warlock across the map that had no overshields or anything (no one was even around for him to be able to get one) and somehow still had a tiny bit of health. Guardians have 200 health, so how does one take 214 damage and still have some left?
