Respond to the noticable overwhelming request for Optional Matchmaking

edit: Additional Matchmaking Options has been added to the wish list, this could be good or bad since it does not say optional or for all activities but it is a step forward. Dear Bungie please respond not with a philosophy respond honestly. why are you not responding to the request for optional matchmaking, we want a nice clear answer with no crap philosophy? why must we go off a console game to make a clan/group/fireteam on a PC when it should already be supported in the game? why is all of your Matchmaking mandatory and not optional? why is Optional Matchmaking a bad thing? why does the End game content have to be for only the elitist? why is there no Social chat in the Social spaces? where is the EPIC story in the game? why do we have to do so much out of the game? lastly what is with all these weak philosophy that do not support the game?
ToughGuy051 Plus one, what's the harm if its optional? The other people on the other side of the fence act as if its going to effect or hurt them. You do you and use LFG. I'm happy with the risk of matchmaking.
and here is one for YOU fellow Guardians: If Bungie announced that a optional matchmaking or LFG system was coming with Destiny's fourth expansion, would you continue to support the game regardless of its price? simple questions, just waiting for answers we're all here, not to bust Bungie's balls (Marty did that already), but because we all love this game (or the 2013 game that we all remember and loved). link to my solution post https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/139313634/0/0 please support it thank you for your time Stargazer Out

  • If they don't make the matchmaking optional then I really don't want it. I already quit playing the weekly's and regular strikes due to all of the randoms hanging back and making the rest of us do all of the work. Although at this point it might not even matter much to me since I have been boycotting this game since all of the bad info involving TTK has surfaced.

    • Bump. Lack of in-game matchmaking/LFG for the endgame content is the biggest problem with an otherwise extremely fun game.

    • "I'm against all matchmaking not because it would be impossible to complete a raid or nightfall with random people but because I don't want other people to have the opportunity to acquire the same gear I have from those activities. I will, however, troll the forums and say things like, 'raids with randoms would cause you to wipe too much,' or, 'you will get AFK players and people would drop in just to get the rewards.' I will say all these things not because I'm genuinely worried about the state of the game and making it better, but rather, like I already said, I just don't want you to have what I have. So screw you. I'm an elitist douchebag." -every anti-matchmaking player on Destiny

      • Optional match making is a real solution, probably one that would cost money to implement. But don't worry, nerfs are coming to enhance the game experience, especially if you are a member of one of the following groups; The Fallen, The Hive, The Cabal and the Vex. These fine players stand to benefit dramatically by upcoming changes.

      • If they do add additional matchmaking they should definitely make it optional. For example, if you go to begin a Raid, Nightfall, or PoE event with an incomplete Fireteam, a window should pop up asking if the Fireteam leader would like to activate matchmaking to fill the empty spaces.

Grammar Police Bump: When you say something is biased toward someone, that means it confers a benefit to them. So saying the philosophy is biased toward casuals, that means the philosophy helps out casuals, which I think is the opposite of what you mean. The philosophy is biased against casuals, because Bungie's policies prevent casual gamers from easily enjoying the content.

I'm would be down for in game lfg, no mm... There are too many problems with mm /it would have to have to many requirements to make it successful. Other games have tried this and it has failed many times... But in game lfg would be great. Btw if I am willing to goto a website to find a pug why am I elitist? Bc I'm not lazy, bc I'm social, bc I can work with solutions I currently have? Why does bungie have to do anything since there is a solution that clearly works. Why are some people "casual players" so unwilling to use an lfg site? I know actual casual players that use lfg all the time bc they want to, it takes them about 3 minutes on average they tell me, so why does it have to be changed? Sure in game lfg would be nice but is it a necessity or should bungie focus on priorities like weapon balancing and new raids. Honestly is rather have better content than in game lfg. But that's my opinion maybe some people would rather have less /worse content and have in game lfg or, good forbid, optional mm Plus through lfg you meet people you can call friends so it's only temporary, optional mm you'd never make friends, and last they don't have in game chat bc of halo there was in game chat and it turned to a burn fest... I remember halo 2 all people did is talk shit and I would much rather have silence than be getting insulted by a scrub I'm beating on

              • Indeed and bump. Although I've said it before... (sigh...here we go) Optional match making will ultimately cost them more money. By "blocking" us from endgame content, they artificially "extend" the little content there is and therefore they save themselves from making more content that we would undoubtedly be screaming for shortly after optional matchmaking would be implemented. Don't get me wrong I'm am totally FOR optional matchmaking...I just don't see bungie shooting themselves in the foot...wait.........they've already done that!

•Most people don't use mics in match made activities. These lead to complications that will result in many wipes which will take more time than actually making a group. Denying that it will is unrealistic. -How will people communicate who's sword bearer? -Who's running relic? -When to shoot Crota? -What planet you got teleported to? -What strategy we're using for Crota? -When the devouring essence will consume me? •How will checkpoints work? -If someone has a checkpoint, how will they avoid having to do it all over again? -Will they even get the checkpoint? •How will kicking work? -How do you implement kicking system that can't be abused by elitist? -How will you defend this against trolls? •AFKer's -How will they be dealt with? -If the kicking system is in place then what will stop people from kicking someone who really isn't AFK, maybe switching controllers? -Will they get a checkpoint? -If there is no kicking system, AFKer's will slow down the raid exponentially. •Group options -What if a team simply needs a swordbearer because all the people who got matchmade in doesn't know how to swordbear or run relic? Then you'd have to let someone figure it out, or leave, both options will waste more time than making a group. •Unprepared guardians -Imagine this scenario, you're matchmade with a level 33 for skolas. Can you complete it? Yes, but you will likely wipe because of him and he does less damage. So it will take longer than if you made a team of all 34s. You could leave but then you would still waste time. Conclusion: Matchmaking presents a host of problems, many of which make doing endgame activities a pain and results in more time spent doing the activity with these handicaps than it would have taken to make a fireteam. This is a relatively short list since I made it cooking some chicken tenders and tater tots for the kids. An in game group finder similar to LFG would be better for raids and Skolas. Night falls should have matchmaking. And before you say "Just don't use it" or "I'm ok with these consequences" I want to say then you are, I'm not being mean, but by definition ignorant to the facts. You are purposely overseeing the problems to come to your own agenda. Not to mention if you really wanted this system, you'd brainstorm on how to fix these problems. I will reiterate, In game LFG > Matchmaking

                • It won't happen. Don't get me wrong I am totally for matchmaking. Using the forums isn't too difficult but it clogs the absolute hell out of my friends list and then I have to keep clearing these random people out. It comes down to one thing...Money! There is no way Bungie is going to invest in additional dedicated servers. It is an expense they have avoided so far and probably will continue to do so.

                • Wondering if this whole "philosophy" thing is just a convenient excuse for a crappy infrastructure. Starting to think maybe their system can't handle the amount of people playing at once if optional matchmaking were implemented for most game modes. Easier on the system if people are on external sites looking for teammates instead of playing the game. Might be also why they put forced matchmaking on the Heroic Strike. Acting like they were doing people a favor but actually eliminating solo players and cutting Heroic strike traffic to 1/3 of what it was. This is probably a stupid theory, but I felt like throwing it out there.
