We just believe that social connections in the game make the overall experience better. There are many good applications for matchmaking in Destiny. Our designers feel very strongly that endgame activities rely on a team that is acquainted with itself.
Your feedback has been heard, so there's no telling how Destiny might change in the future. In the immediate term, I see a lot of people who are talking about a need for teammates. However, it is not that simple.
At current, our philosophy about endgame content is that part of the challenge includes forming up a team. This is a strong community filled with players who are looking for teammates. Why not seek each other out here and band together?

Edited by gallp13: 5/25/2015 9:00:43 PMOptional matchmaking does not effect the Devs philosophy. If the Devs are right - the majority will still use manual means to form a fire team. Optional match making will help the remaining folk to get involved and join the fun - it's a way of growing participation. Optional matchmaking is a good thing.

Bump. The ability to learn the fights and potentially add friends to help with end game content is a plus for optional matchmaking. It doesn't hurt the experience for people who still want to form their own fire teams instead.

No. All easy activites already have matchmaking. The only content that does not have matchmaking is the serious endgame content that actually requires people to know how to work together. Stop being dumb.

Lol. Serous endgame content. Good joke. Oh, and stop being dumb.

More of a challange than all the other activities. Stop being dumb.

Doesn't make it serious. Now tell me to stop being dumb. It makes you seem very intelligent.

Edited by gallp13: 5/25/2015 9:12:28 PM"Dumb"...... Little rude methinks. Surely end game leets are not the least bit threatened by match made randoms? No need to feel worried just think of match made fire teams as easy points........that is, of course, unless end game Xur ain't that leet hmmm ;)

You obviously have no idea what it is like to be with noobs that can't get the job done.

Edited by gallp13: 5/25/2015 9:25:41 PMQuite right Xur as there is no optional matchmaking feature - well argued. Thx for the bumps helps the cause.

That was a nice impression
