Can someone clarify how the normal and hard rewards system works. I.e does playing it on hard automatically give you two chances of getting an exotic weapon from the gorgon chest? Do you have to do it on normal and then on hard to get more rewards? Cheers

Yep that all sounds about right to me. I have a vex. What I'm after is a 3rd ghorn. Iv read that vog is the best place as it has a limited exotic drop list. Altho I got my first 2 ghorns by doing crota. I best do a couple normal runs tonight then before the reset. Thanks for the info.

Your question is a little confusing but... The chests you can only get once, it doesn't matter if you do it normal or hard there's no change, however what my friends were doing is killing Atheon on normal and then on hard... Then you have the chance of two exotic drop points. Then did this with Crota as well, one normal run and then another run on hard.

Thanks for that. Iv read so many different theories on how the loot is obtained. One theory was you can open the gorgon chest twice with each guardian. So if I did aethon on hard first time I wouldn't get 2 chances for an exotic? I would definitely need to kill him on normal first then on hard?

Nah it's one chest per character and chests never changes in regards to hard or normal. And from what I know yea. Atheon is an exotic drop on both normal and hard but if your after the Vex, then that can only be dropped on hard. It's the same with Crota and that bitch witch you have to kill before hand. Both have an exotic drop but only hard Crota will drop a Crux (from what I've read, not 100%) Hope this helps.
