I'm wondering, as I have a couple of legendary hand cannons that are not ideal, what others find to be the best hand cannons for the Crucible. All the exotics seem to absolutely dominate the HC field, more so than the other weapon classes.
The specific ones of mine I am thinking of are The Devil You Don't, which has only 5 rounds, and Timur's Lash (whatever the name is, the IB one), which seems to lack the needed rate of fire, despite being otherwise enjoyable.
So, anyone have any favorites other than the exotics?
It sounds like there are many good options.Maybe I should have asked about best hand cannon perks for Crucible.
A major factor definitely seems to be perks, where the reloading perks are definite favorites for this weapon type. That makes obvious sense.
Feeding Frenzy over Outcast, though the damage bonus is beneficial from either.
The other major perk mentioned seems to be Perfect Balance, with the somewhat similar Zen Moment in the running as well.
Third Eye also seems like a strong Crucible perk for any primary.
Red hand

Pick a blue with bad stats, but with a max impact. Get it rolled with a perk that can make up for some of those stats. proceed to two shot people every time, and make hawkmoon users have wet dreams about you. profit.

Forget blue purple green or white....pick the thorn and start the fight......Please..... ;)

NIFTY BISCUIT Perks -Send it -Luck in the chamber With it's 5 round mag you're almost sure to throw your "super" round at each encounter. It's a 2 headshot/kill revolver 70% of the time , but with very poor aim assist , it's my good to go HC but you need to know what you do. (If you're curious check my hunter ) But to be fair , the devil you know is probably the most versatile HC "out of the box" from the vanguard shop: -Good stability , -One of the best range (thanks to send it) (zen moment + crowd control+ 12 round capacity) x (high aim assist) = pure pleasure (if the damn lag doesn't take it away from you)

I have fatebringer, red hand IX(new monarchy), and TFWPKY 1969. All work just fine in crucible
-
Timur's lash, I also like Heaven Can Wait. It's good in pvp.
-
I like my Red Hand.
-
Lord High Fixer.

Edited by The 7th fall: 5/6/2015 4:02:59 AMMy TFWPKY 1969 pistol: Rangefinder and Crowd Control with a choice of Perfect Balance, Snapshot and Field Scout. For PvP I go with Perfect Balance -sometimes Snapshot- because my pistol has 10 shots in the mag by default, and landing 3 consistent headshots is a lot easier when the stability is over halfway maxed out on that beauty.

Fatebringer was actually fun to use, with explosive rounds most didn't know what hit them... Until they looked and saw what it was but ya know same effect
-
Edited by Doctor Destiny: 5/5/2015 9:44:42 PMLord High Fixer. Same stats as hawkmoon with better stability. Minus the awesome perks of course.
-
The devil you know is the best non exotic handcannon in destiny hands down
-
Edited by iZnth: 5/5/2015 3:06:35 PMTDYD has the lowest TTK in the game among legendary hand cannons alongside WoC, so it's nowhere near as bad as some might have you believe. The low clip size is an issue obviously, but if you get good perks on it it'll be beastly. Red Hand IX and Venation III 2.0 are also good choices, but as always it all comes down to rolls. Same with the Lash.

Timurs lash is a monster with proper perks as is the tkfpky 1969
-
I have a red hand IX, with spray and play, perfect balance, and 3rd eye.
-
Edited by Apex of War: 5/5/2015 3:18:08 PMMy guess Timur's Lash with: Reactive Reload Perfect Balance/Flared Magwell Feeding Frenzy (Outlaw requires precision kills which means it won't be as consistent as Feeding Frenzy in PvP) A reload after a kill (assisted by Feeding Frenzy and Flared Magwell, CoW if you're a hunter) grants 33% bonus damage for 3 seconds. That equates to only needing one headshot and one body shot for a kill. Keep chaining kills and reloading and you can successfully plow through several enemies in one gun fight.

Timur's lash
-
I say Timur's Lash is an extremely good hand canon with field scout and crowd control, the first perk is your choice. The weapon does 95 precision damage letting it kill low armour player in two headshots. High armour players take a bit more damage so that is where crowd control comes in. Once activeit pushes the damage over 100 for a precision shot. An example where this would help. You are playing control and are standing on B flag alone because your team just died and you're the only one left. An enemy comes around the corner with his team close behind him but far enough so you can kill him 1v1. Once you kill him crowd control activates and the person behind him is killed in 2 headshots, then the next, and the next. You can wipe the entire enemy team with one magazine and 2 headshots each besides the first guy. It takes skill to do but once you do it you understand the power of Timur's Lash.

I actually took out the devil you know it was scary how good it still is three shot kill any part of the body at least in iron banner
-
Venation III (Dead Orbit). Think Hawkmoon without the bonus round, but stronger aim assist.
-
Timurs Lash, Venation. its all about perks tbh tho i have a nice TWKY 1969
-
