For either answer, explain why
Edit: nice to see a good discussion for both points of view, keep the conversation going! Bump this so Bungie can have some feed back before releasing the dlc.
Edit2: Also, Answer this: Do you think people will stop playing the ToO once they get all the armor/guns that you can get from it? Or will Bungie add weekly incentives (alike Iron Banner) to keep 'em playing?
-
I don't have a solid crew, only some guys that I do the Nightfall with sometimes. And for every 1 good person on the Bungie forums, there's 20 or so dinguses.
-
Yea right so I can get someone who is going to be away from the controller.

I don't want MM for ToO. I get that I helps people that don't want to take the time and type out a post, yet find all the time in the world to post complaints about it. Just saying. Anyways, if they did have MM then it would degrade my experience. If me and my friends went in and won every single match because we were paired with random MM teams and got armor it would just be "meh". But if we had serious blood pumping matches that we almost lost and got armor then we'd always have a good laugh about those fights. I do get that it would make it easier for people without teams but that's just the way it will probably be for end game content here. And you can always try and solo it so you can say you tried the content.

BC I won't use it so I want to get as easy win against 3 uncoordinated scrubs
-
1: Get match made against a premade fireteam against your team of blow ins 2: Get stomped on 3: Take note of what weapons you're getting killed by 4: Limp off to the forums to cry and beg for nerfs. And the cycle goes on.

My team has been together since H3. We know each other in real life and have played together for years. We have a strategy, we know the call outs, and we have fun crushing randos in matchmaking. That is why we will prevail over "random" LFG groups...
-
There should matchmaking. Good players will have teams and it will at least give bad players a chance to play.
-
Yes I would love matchmaking but only with filter like level, Mic connected etc. So you can choose the level you play with. Let's say 32-31 or only 32. You can use it or not would be so great
-
They are trying to make a competitive pvp game mode , adding matchmaking will make the whole idea obsolete
-
Now tell me, would you want some deaf, insubordinate trigger-happy under your command going off doing his own thing? Thats what would happen if there was matchmaking in Osiris.
-
i would like matchmaking for ToO. because of my schedule, getting together with my clan mates does not always work out. for the ToO timeframe, i'm more likely to be playing online in the early morning (6-7am) than at night. i personally don't mind the matchmaking in crucible. while i do have some bad matches, overall i win some and lose some. in iron banner, i'm finding that i'm winning more matches than losing. the stakes are higher in ToO as there is an investment to gain entry and a motivating investment to win for the new gear. because of these higher stakes, it may behoove people to have a mic at the ready and put in a bit more effort than in a regular crucible playlist because the whole team must win if you want the goods and there are penalties for losing too much (IB and normal crucible doesn't have that kind of weight). in the end, it may make it easier for organized teams to dominate ToO as they may paired with another team of randoms. that just means they get their gear quicker (an incentive to be on an organized team). i've personally found it satisfying winning a crucible game where the other team had been comprised of 3+ fireteam members when i'm on a team of randoms. as for the competitive atmosphere, i think that can still be achieved even though matchmaking is enabled. leaderboards, increased rewards for fireteams, prioritizing matchmaking fireteams against fireteams, unique stats for fireteams (e.g. remembers your teammates so it will reward/track performance based on the same combination of people - like WoW's arena) and sends rewards for your particular fireteam placing near the top at the reset. maybe even have fireteam ratings to contribute to matchmaking. what i'll be more interested in seeing is how LFG evolves in ToO. my crucible stats aren't stellar so would someone like me be able to use LFG if people only accept 32/33 sunsinger warlocks with a k/d > 3.0? i may be exaggerating on that bit, but it'll be interesting to see.
-
I do bc on average the chemistry between match made groups isn't that well compared to premade fireteams so it would be easier for my premade team to get those 9 wins for the weekend IF we got paired with match made fireteams. Before anyone starts screaming about how they have wrecked teams in crucible with a match made fireteam I did say on AVERAGE
-
IT WOULD BE OPTIONAL! Why not? If you don't want it that's cool, then don't do it. Others who don't have a team could do this. OPTIONAL= why not?
-
Shouldn't this go in the feedback topic? I said no matchmaking because it is supposed to be the top tier crucible. It is supposed to be competitive with communication and team play. It doesn't take much to find 2 others you enjoy playing with. Plus playing with friends is more fun. I have a .8 something k/d and play little crucible and this is still my view on it.
-
Well my argument is that if you go in with random people with no communication, you will find yourself more than half the time against a team of good communicating friends and will lose your three matches real -blam!-ing quick.
-
Im 14 and all my friends i play with either hate crucible, or suck at it. Im pretty good myself and i love the pvpv in this game(except for lag) and since they are going to be matchmaking based on connection in the trials im looking forward to it. Still need two teammates though. Anyone interested? You have to be good at the crucible as well though.
-
I think matchmaking should be a thing, except if you go in with no fireteam. Then it's you vs who you are put against. I want to 1v3 people >:)
-
I would be all for it if it was totally optional, same for nightfalls and raids. Unfortunately bungie don't seem to do optional in all their current match made activities.
-
I understand why it's not in the game, I'm just not looking forward to being forced into rejection by idiots requiring a 4.0 KD on lfg sites. Now I'm never going to get to play ToO...
-
I wouldn't mind it if people used mics.
-
At least give players that struggle to find other players a chance to play it.
-
If there's matchmaking you're just going to be put in teams with bad players
-
No. It's gonna be just a swarm of good players teaming up and randoms who don't even know eachother.
-
Not a god damn chance. Most people are terrible in crucible and considering you get booted out after 3 losses...just no. I don't wanna be matched up with people who are just there to do bounties.
-
Wouldn't want to get matched with shit teammates. Wouldn't matter anyways though, because I wouldn't go in unless I had full team
-
Imagine a AFK guy in ToO for trolling purposes.
