I was smart enough to buy some exotic armor engrams from xur for when the expansion launches I might get good stuffs

Tough luck, when TDB was released, engrams obtained before dlc still gave items from before dlc

Its coded to when you purchased them. You will get TDB equivalent gear. Should have just waited for Xur to show up as I assume the majority of people are. He is going to get -blam!- his first appearance after the DLC drops.
