Patrols could add, in my opinion, so much to the PvE experience if some work could be done on them.
Here are some ideas, but I would like to hear your ideas. I don't know if these ideas might be implemented due to xbox360 and ps3, but might be eventually implemented in the next Destiny generation.
- [b]Not make us spawn always in the same place[/b], it's too much repetitive, and make us to avoid to explore better the planet. U made some work to build the planets, use it at the best ;)
- No more mission like:[b] kill all the enemies[/b]. That's obvious, we are there for that. Replace it with glimmer for each kill to show the thankfulness of the tower. E.g 200 kills on patrol = 1000 glimmer. (= 5 glimmer/death).
- Make the enemies [b]act and spawn in a dynamic way[/b]. Now its too static and predictable. It doesn't feel alive. It feels heavily scripted. Make it feel like a patrol, you should not know what u are facing. I know it's a pain to program and think how to implement this, but it would be worth it.
- Add[b] mission similar to events[/b]. Events are cool and should be improved. It would be nice if we are are just wandering around and we are contaced by the vanguard to have some duty to do in the nearby.
- Add [b]complex events[/b] that require more than just a man standing. Reward them appropriately.
- Use [b]all the planet[/b] for the missions. There are part that we never see in patrols, this should not be the case.
- Add[b] rescue (man or objects) missions[/b]
And more, and more..
[b]EDIT:[/b] Here comes listed some of the more trending idea in the discussion and those I like particularly:
- [b]More challenging patrols[/b] (e.g. Patrol level 30). I guess it would be hard to implement a harder patrol in the same "open" world where also low level people might be. This can be solved in 2 ways: divide the 2 things (Splitting player base), or having the possibility to scale down yourself stats to have a better reward in return.
-[b] Higher level district [/b]in the planet with missions to do there
- [b]6 man patrol[/b] missions that shoulb a challenge to be completed even by 6 people
- [b]active wheather[/b]: it could add more life to the planets
- [b]competitive PvE[/b]: what if a member of another faction is required to take an object in a place, and you get the same request immediately after from another faction? Would be cool, but don't know how could it work in the end.
- [b]Darkness fighting back[/b]: This goes with different spawns.. but it would be cool if Darkness would fight back guardians as we try to get more in their bases. This would make possible to create area where only a good 6 man team ( or extremly pro) could access, because otherwise Darkness would get easily rid of a smaller team.
- [b]Assasinations with snipe rifle[/b]: if u are spotted by enemies the target will fly away. Sniping is your solution
- [b]Fortified positions[/b]: this could also go with the one above.
- [b]NPCs[/b]: I report this because I've seen it written many times. But Wouldn't be against lore to have an outpost with Npc? We are barely able to keep the Last City.
- [b]Ambush mission:[/b] you go to take a mission like always, but no! it was a fake, and you are sorrounded by enemies!
- [b]PvP maps inside the PvE patrols: [/b]with mission and monster in it. After all the space have to be kept safe for the guardians that want to go in the Crucible.
- [b]world bosses[/b]: Notification to all the player on the map. Without all the combined effort, It won't be possible to win.
-[b] Linked Patrols[/b]: One mission once completed will rise a new quest.
- [b]Sparrow Races[/b]: Nice to be implemented. though there should be no loading time issue for everyone.
-[b]Bigger fights between opposing enemies[/b]: Like the Urok's event.. but more often

You guys put more thought into this than bungle, and as another idea is how about enemy dropships that you can actually get onto and destroy, and can find really rare gear inside

Bump great part about using all the planet. We have European crucible maps but we can't explore. And NPCs also wildlife some evolved from whatever happened some natural like today. Maybe a hostile bear

Public events should reward Rep, approx 50. As well, a completed event should count as a patrol mission.

Actually random world bosses would be great. Something bigger and harder than the random walkers that tend to spawn on the earth and moon. Like what if a raid boss or something similar spawned on Venus near the entrance to the vault of glass from time to time and rewards people with legendaries. Or a tank from the cobal spawns at the first area of mars. They would could easily make all of those bosses level 30(equal to the nightfall level at least) and give a huge notification in the surrounding areas. Low level people would see it and run/avoid it while the high levels that happen to be in the area would converge and try to take them down. Of coarse like I said before. These should reward participants with legendary engrams and rep at the very least.

This does include combat, but you could travel to a planet, capture an enemy, then hold off an attempted rescue until your ship can take you and your prisoner to the Prison of Elders. The bounties in HoW will most likely be kill bounties, so this would add something different. You could have high lvl bounties that require a fireteam.

In my opinion to make patrols better they should have npc's in the world's. That would allow for escort missions, timed racing style missions(bring package to another outpost). Defend the outpost, etc. I also think a little story should be included in the patrols. Not main story, but instead of grimoire cards telling me about the Cabal, I do the research though patrols. And I'd slowly develop over 3 months throughout the expansion.

I would like to see more "hidden" areas like the grotto was in vanilla. There needs to be more exploration. Imagine the ogre in the grotto is buffed to "kill the target" levels of health where you'd need a team to kill it in any reasonable amount of time. When you kill it it drops an item, a key. The key opens a door to Phogoth's chamber, but it's slightly different inside. There's now an accessible door that leads deeper into the hive structure. Something like that would be so cool. Just a ton of exploration.

Yeah bump the idea. Only due to the fact that bungie needs more story. The ideas are great but i dont want to be doing something different in the same areas ive played in since launch. Its no different then creating a pvp game then slapping a cool label on it. Oh wait they have. Its called house of wolves.

There are some nasty guys around, they just don't amount to anything when you kill them which is disappointing. For instance head towards where you would go if you were on "the siege of the warmind" mission to rescue Rasputin. Down in that underground area there are a some Lvl 30 Knights and one with a weird name and the health of a strike boss. Unfortunately, as stated, nothing special happens when you kill him.
