Gods Grace and Blessings
I would like for people to tell me experiences with gods grace and his amazing mercy. I was just talking to an amazing Christian I met today thru these forums. I'm not here to fight or judge but will willingly help and talk about our amazing creator!

13 RepliesAs a kid I hated life and myself so much. I was depressed and never felt right. I always felt like I should have been a girl or that life would be easier if I was. I felt like I was a weirdo, sick and wrong. I prayed to god to make me normal with all my heart. I prayed to just take those feelings away and make me normal. I was in a pit of despair, hoping i could be fixed of this. Then I took biology. This showed me our brains are very complicated, and maybe something deep down in my brain is making me feel this way. I started researching and realized people like me exist all over the place and actually do something about it themselves. I thought just maybe this god I've been praying to doesn't intervene ever like people think it does. Maybe I am the only one on control of my life. After that realization I felt for the first time in years, happy. I could talk to people again and actually feel good about how I felt with no shame. Moral of this story is when I feared god, I was lost and depressed, trying to make my life how it is said he wants it to be. I was a very good and obedient Christian. Then when I let those beliefs go I felt better, I felt in control of myself, and knew that what I was doing was the only choice to feel like a normal human in this world. I gave up faith and gained an actual love of myself and my fellow human as a result. It made me realize I HAVE to be the one to make change if I want the world to a better place, wasting time on a god that only made me feel bad kept me from helping others as I try to do today. Basically religion is not all good, it drove me to self hatred and suicidal thoughts as I thought I was an abomination(as some people still think). It made me hate my thoughts and only made me suffer longer. Being free of that guilt made me love myself and realize I am my own person and I can do what I need to be happy as long as I try to make others happy along the way. Tl Dr I was a devout Christian, was miserable, gave up the faith and i actually felt like a real person. Moral is being religious is not always a good thing to a persons psychology.

A species he knew would piss him off by using the free will he gave them to choose a path he knew they would take but was powerless to stop because of the free will he made. Now he would have to not only kill them horribly for making a choice he disproved of but then feel the need to torture them in the worist ways imaginable for all eternity based upon a microscopic period of time compared to eternity... but he loves you. Seems legit.

14 RepliesI think it's strange how this topic isn't inciting any kind of argument or fight yet here come the edgy atheists starting shit they don't need to be starting. He's just asking other Christians about what kind of experiences they've had concerning what they believe to be God's grace and mercy. Can't you other atheists respect that? Or do you really have to tear down every religious thread you see in order to shove YOUR view down everyone's throats? Some really hard hypocrisy going on here. Are you guys really that hungry for another opportunity to try and prove that you're the smartest guy in the room? Did you guys see the title and think "Wow this topic has nothing to do with me. I'd better post some anti religious comments." All I'm saying is to just leave the guy alone. If he wants to make a post asking other Christians about their experiences then by all means let him. This is Offtopic for goodness sake. Literally anything and everything is allowed here. I just don't think it's right that anyone who chooses to post any kind of religious thread, whether it's starting arguments or not, can't do so without being beaten and battered by the atheists that so heavily populate this forum. Just let him talk about what he wants to talk about. No need for you other atheists to start coming in and starting shit.
