Exotic upgrade bug (VERY FRUSTRATING!)
I already had the 'Heart of the Praxic Fire' chest armour and noticed that Xur had Chest Armour in his inventory that I had enough for. I purchased it and instead of giving me a second set (which I could have dismantled in order to upgrade my other gear) it just reset my original armour back to the start!! On the website it said Xur had 'Voiding Vestments' and I did not notice that I was receiving the same armour as I already had. Nonetheless, it should have given me an additional set instead of just taking my credits and reseting my gear!!!! How can I get this fixed?

The section of inventory you were looking in, was the exotic upgrade section. The upgrades allow pre expansion I items (300 max attack weapons, 30 max light armor) to be upgraded to expansion I levels (331 max attack. 36 max light). As part of the upgrade, all experience on the item is reset. https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12457 Unfortunately, there are no refunds for accidental purchases.

It doesn't say in exactly what its for. That's the real problem here. All it says is "Upgrade Equipped Exotics" so therefore someone who's new to the game doesn't know anything else. They sure as hell aren't going to look it up on a specific website way back in the FAQ. It needs to be removed or have a more specific label or some red texts saying that its for old level gear from before the dlc. I can't believe that Bungie can be so lazy that they only write a little bit online about it instead of fixing this issue.

The second set of stuff xur has, aka the middle two bars of armor and weapons, are designed to upgrade armor that was pre dark below. If you didn't know the armor was at light level 30 before and not is light level 36, weapons were 300 series and now they are 331. These middle rows are made to upgrade old armor to higher light or damage levels. The other purpose is to let's say if your armor has intellect at a max of 80 and the one xur has is a max at 120 then you can upgrade it to the new one but you then have to level it up again. You do not get an additional armor set by doing this. It rerolls your current set. Only way to obtain another set is to buy another one from the top row when it's available or to get it by rng
