How many times now have I gotten into a raid group and been told NOT to open the materials chests, because it wrecks your odds of getting exotic gear from the exotic loot points ... ? This bloody superstition is running rampant. I would love some official statement -- Deej?! -- to put this to rest. Some people have a use for Ascendant and Radiant materials still, and it's lame to prevent players picking those things up. Specifically, I've heard this nonsense about the first VoG chest, the Spirit Bloom chest after Templar, and the materials chest in the Gorgon's Labyrinth. A) This makes no sense at all in the context of RNG. B) If there's any truth at all to the superstition, then the game is broken. We fight hard to earn our rewards, and the game should not disincentivize us from collecting the things we earn.
