I was a forest ranger and park ranger for a total of 6 years in Florida, and I came to be very passionate about fire ecology and its affect on us.
The southeast forests, much like most forests, have evolved to live and thrive with frequent low intensity fires. When these fires are suppressed that are caused by natural sources and are not instead conducted by professionals under controlled conditions, it creates very negative effects.
One of these effects is it makes it inevitable that a fire that cant be controlled will happen, that does long term damage to the environment and our wallets.
A healthy prescribed fire program is vital for healthy forests, and prevention of huge damaging and expenisve wildfires.
The video talks about it and explains it well.

How was being a forest ranger and how did it pay? I'm kind of looking into that job area and wondering what it's like.
